what's up iband-ians...
i've got to study for exam tonite but here's some new lesson on
Lydian Mode
Let's start with the Lydian mode. Lydian has a sweet major sound to it because of it's major third ( two steps) between tonic and mediant . It is the fourth degree mode of the major scale so back to our C major scale example
C D E F G A B C
If we start from F instead of C we'll get the F lydian scale. So that would be:
F G A B C D E F
The scale properties would also be the fourth degree from the major scale's W W H W W W H structure.. this would make the Lydian scale structure as
W W W H W W H
So let's say we want to apply this to the key of G , then G Lydian would be
Code: | G A B C# D E F# G
W W W H W W H |
Here's how a G Lydian would look like on the fretboard
all you have to do is remember the pattern on the fretboard and move it up down the fretboard if you want some other key ...if you want an A lydian just pull up the pattern two frets up where it will start from the A note.
well that's all for ..later we'll do mixolydian mode which is the fifth degree of the major scale..
adios! |
