Cops seeking gang of robbing rockers

SEREMBAN: Eleven buddies wanted to form their own rock band but the lack of cash stood in the way.

Eager to get their hands on funds to buy the latest musical instruments, the group members, aged between 17 to 22 years, turned to robbery in September.

However, their spate of crime has landed them high on the wanted list of the police here and in Selangor.

State police chief Senior Asst Comm (I) Datuk Sulaiman Mahmud said the gang – which calls itself “Baiduri Boys” after the name of the proposed band – was responsible for 12 armed robberies here, reported since last year.

The gang members, he added, would target business premises and often armed themselves with parang and other dangerous weapons.

SAC Sulaiman said six of the gang members had been nabbed so far – four in Selangor last month and two more here on Monday.

“We are still hunting for the remnants of the gang,” he said.

Police, he added, were still trying to track down the gang leader, Mohd Arif Mustafa, 21, from Taman Kajang Utama in Kajang.

Mine was a Gibson Les Paul copy (cherry sunburst) called Gibbon (in that famous font), believe it or not!

Twenty years later, I bought the real thing. It sleeps in its case most of the time.

hahaha i dunno about u guys but this kinda reminds me of that 1994 movie "Airheads" starring Brendan Fraser about this rock band looking for some attention by hijacking a radio station just to get their song on air!
