hey guys....

anyone ever heard of Cornford Amps? well...sure everyone here is talking mostly of Laney amps which i really like as well. Paul Gilbert uses Laney GH100L......

but theres a new amplifier called Cornford. Its British made and it really in my opinion is one of the best amps around.

Endorsee of this amps include the likes of Guthrie Govan and Richie Kotzen...two monster players in the world.

Gotta check it out.....its really expensive but damn its good

These are boutique amps only afforded by rock stars and rich peeps...it has to sound good to justify it's price tag. I've read good reviews about it.
Meanwhile...I can only dream of cheap amps for 'commoners'... Confused

satriani used cornford amps before he switched to peavey which is the jsx series. as bode correctly stated, they cost a bomb like the mesas.

i have a 13-yr old fender SKX15R taiwan-made solid state! nice clean sounds. lima belas watt sahaja. hehe. recently i've been using this kemetot amp as a bass amp. and it almost killed a friend of mine one night due to faulty wiring in the plug (i think!). oops.

upgraded to a marshall vs100R hybrid 1x12 combo. not as great sounding as a proper tube amp but i've gigged with it 5 times already. 6 years on still going strong. when i go tube, god knows lah what i'll get.

late last mth, after that near-death experience, i decided to get a bass amp. since i'm just starting, i didn't want to spend too much. like our behringer-loving i-bands guy, daniel, i fell in love with this behringer. imagine a head and cab costing less than 300 quid (x7.2 for RM equiv). initially wanted an ashdown combo, and i got a proper 300w solid state bx3000t head and 1x15 bb15 cab to boot, instead, at a bargain! sorry gambaq blur.

before anyone tries to slag off behringer, read this harmony central user review. i didn't read the review before i bought it. i blame the bloody salesman. and my ears. read it here.

synthdude... i used to have one of those AORs!! sadly i had to sell it before i came overseas for uni. i had a baby peavey rage combo for a month or two over here, am now using a pre-90s peavey bandit 112... not as powerful as all your laney tube amps la... but it does the trick, especially with a gt6 stuffed in the effects return... it's also surprisingly versatile, can go from warm to bone crushing distortion

I now have a 1971 Fender Bassman 135 (135w) head complete with the over size 4x10 cabinet which needs a lot of attention...pics coming soon.... It needs new tubes...maybe a new transformer ..as well...its a bit of an ongoing restoration project for me.

I love this amp coz it has two types of inputs...one for bass guitar and one for guitar....

Anyone know where i can get replacement 6L6 tubes in malaysia???

I havent actually got it working yet...but i have a feeling once its alive it will be the loudest thing on earth in the right hands as it pumps out 135 watts of pure tube power...i can hardly wait.....

Tube amps - the powerstage of the amplifier uses vacuum tubes.

Amp biasa = Solidstate amps - the powerstage of the amplifier uses transistors. This is why they are also called 'trannies' by some people.

tube amps and solidstate amps both have pros and cons...but tone wise, tube amp always sound much better.

but there are also hybrid amps - amps that use tubes in the preamp stage, then on the powerstage they use transistors.

Most amps i know use 12AX7, 12AX7T tubes on the preamp stage...you can even get overdrive pedals that use these tubes.....

I dont know...i dont mean to piss on your nasi goreng, but Peaveys are bloody horrible amps... The Bandit 112 has not got much headroom, buzzy, and the speakers are horrible paper cone cheapo speakers that sound really treble heavy...but i had a friend who swapped the crappy speakers with a Celestion Greenback and it sounded pretty good.
