rasanye vocalist selalu ada dia punye technique sendiri sebelum nak nyanyi. Maybe we can share tips here. Heres my routine which i go through before a show, or recordng session;
1. Regular practice(warmups) - vocal scales - mostly a(ehhh) e(eeeeh) o(ooooh) er(erhhhh) ah(aahhhhhhhhh)on different octaves.
2. 1 day before - masuk dalam kereta and bawak jalan2 with my fav songs and jerit macam gile (make sure orang tak nampak). Kat rumah tak leh jerit sangat.
3. 30 mins before - isap gule2 . hard candy helps me hit the high notes better.
4.10 mins before - stop drinking water samapi habis recording/show. Yang ni tak tahu la, a few singers aku kenal constantly drink water masa nyanyi, tapi akalu aku baut it relaxes my vocal muslces instead and makes it harder to reach the high notes.
well thats it. Id like to hear from you guys camne plak. |

as for me,
warm ups b4 whatever esp b4 vox practise:
i will start wil a lip exercise, face exercise following with a full scalling in lip and face exercise.
cont with a breathing exercise in full scale.
then a do re mi full scale.
then with a very 'lento' slow music to ensure my breathing
then with a very high note song or to ensure my voice is warm enough.
ok, if performing or whatever.. i tend not to talk too much one day before the show. and drink alot and aloooottt of luke warm water. jes to make sure my tekak is moist enough.
then few hours before pforming time, do warm ups including at least 3 numbers of different sets of songs jes to make sure my vox are warmed.
i tried hard drinking b4 a show once, it worked well, but does not sustain for a long night show. luke warm water is the best way.
erm, other tips nanti la share. tata ;p _________________ "my bigger dreams!"

well this a real breathing tip i use regularly. Its simple but boring as hell..and surprisingly, extremely tiring. I got this tip from reading about Chino Moreno from DEFTONES a few years back. Or was it about Tom Araya. Oh well, nvm.
First of all, assume the position.
HAHAHA. I mean get down on your knees.
Before that have the songs you want to sing for that particular record, show or whatever in ur cd, cassette, what ever player. Make sure its atleast 10-15 mins playing time atleast.
Now play it.
Now this is the weird part. Sing along , but dont sing. Just mouth the words macam orang bisu. And control ur breathing from there.
What ur doing actually is singing with ur diafragm but without using the vocal muscles. Kneeling helps u push from the diagraphm and u progress to standing up after a few session or so, while still retaining breathing from ur diafragm (think of it as a balancing act where u stand up from kneeling with an apple on ur head.). Best brethign excercise for me and been doing it for years. Youll find that ur voice suddenly sounds fuller and more powerful after doing this excercies for a while.
If ur seeing white spots after a minute or 2, and you feel like ur going to faint, it means ur going the right direction. hahaha. its suppose to happen. You can then either stop and take break first, or keep going and pass out. Do whichevers fun for you |

eerr...
aku nk bg pendapat skit..
untuk vocal growl, sblm ni aku amalkan makan benda pedas..contoh macam makan nasi n sambal ke, apa ke.. janji pedas.. sebab ia akan membuatkan tekak kita x kering.. ntah le. ni aku nye tips le.. kesesuaian untuk yg nyanyi macam max cavalera la..
tapi teknik menyanyi ni banyak tapi antara betul ke x je (yg kita amalkan..).. contohnya masa recording ada yg nyanyi mendongak (mikrofon di depan kepala..) ada gak yg nyanyi mirofon di depan mulut..so sapa ada tau pasai teknik nyanyian dlm studio raklaman sila2 la ajaq.. bleh kongsi pendapat..

ok doke. this is gonna take a while.
kau tanye pasal miking technique masa recording. Ada 3 jenis position, and it depends on the singers voice as to the type of position.
O |
Lets say gambar kat atas tu , O = orang |=mic. standard jarak 4-6 inches. Problem is too much air goes into the mic and semua jenis bunyi nafas gets recorded. To my experience, even a windshield(popshield) wotn stop the plosives.
O /
Kalau mic camni ngam utk orang suara yang kurang sikit in low tones. Dia bagi dalam sikit suara. tapi banyak bunyi juga ah. Bunyi sengau kuat, ko telan air liur pun dengar.
O \
THe best position for me. Its not indirectly in the path of my breath, bunyi sengau kurang sikit, bunyi2 telan2 semua tak dengar sangat. Tapi cuma dia bagi nipis sikit bunyi suara la.
Pasal dekat ngan jauh nyayi ngan mic, it depends on the song .. intimate lyrics need closer mics, and you usually need some compressing to even out the vocals pre and post micing. Lama2 kau tahu la tu camne nak control bile dekat and bile nak jauh. Another thing is to put a high pass filter when close micing. Some mics have them, if not u have to do it post recording. Just put a HPF at 100hz and it usually works itslef fine. |
