ni ade satu soalan,... aku nak tukar fretwire..sebab dah banyak haus... terutama tempat yg favorite bending aku..hahaha...

soalan
1.Kat mana nak beli fretwire ni
2.Fretwire ni ade size dia kan..?? macam mana nak tahu size aku ni...
3.ape peralatan yg aku perlukan untuk tukar fretwire
4.Fretwire biasanya mahal.. jadi yang murah takde ke... sebab gitar aku rm300 je.. kalau fretwire rm400.. baik aku beli gitar baru terus...ahaks..
5.boleh ke fretwire ni aku install satu-satu..
6.jual tak satu-satu..
7.. cam mana step dia..??
8. Faktor keselamatan?? taku cedera pulat fret tu....

Siapa yg tahu boleh laa jawab... ahaks..

erylasia, benda ni selalunya luthier buatkan.

tapi since kau ada semangat keusahawanan baik kau beli buku ni. serious. mahal tapi kalau kau tau buat semua lagi bagus dari belajar refretting aje ke, tukar wayar je ke. ROM from rottw pun dulu recommend buku ni. aku few yrs ago belikan for my brother now dia pun terror setup sendiri. guitar dia bikin 10 minit je. hahaha.

boleh beli di sini: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0953104907/qid=1126853521/sr=2-3/ref=sr_2_27_3/202-6375231-4584607

takat setup sekadar screwdriver dgn allen key cukup. bila bab refret ni kena ada ruler la (bukan yg ruler poyo beli utk bawak sekolah), pemotong dia lah etc.

online guide yg aku jumpa is this: http://www.fretnotguitarrepair.com/frets.htm

allparts.com should sell them tapi mahal la nak import.

happy refretting!

betul cakap kudo tu ery.. beli buku belajar. Fretwire ni bukan mcm setup guitar.. kena betul2 mahir sebab risiko refret ni besar tak macam setup guitar. Aku tak rekemen ko buat sendiri.

Tapi kalau ko nak eksperimen dgn guitar ko, bagus jugak, tapi jgn lupa study dulu sebelum buat apa2. Dah ada ilmu sikit, dah nampak apa yg ko perlu buat, baru start.

fretwire brand fender boleh beli kat bentley, KL. harga sebatang rm4 rasanya tapi dia tak jual satu2.. kena beli satu set.. kalau ko nak info lebih ko call la bentley tanya..

hi ery... nice...good if you could do it ... i just wannna share my experienced on the frewire.... dulu pernah try ... mid 90's masa tu les paul aku abis haus ...nak ikut bend macam slash punya pasal ...

Btw this is not trying to discourage .... soldering electrical, intonation, set up its quite possible to do with your daily household tools tapi pasal fretting ni it needs its special tools especially to lay it and level it, then comes the alligned, then comes the intonation, fret buzzing you name it... benda ni tedious sikit... if you wanna do it make sure u have all the necessary equipments... I guess Stew Mc D is the best palce to source... but it need some investment la dude...
I have tried but unfortunately I failled due to the leveling factor.... chezz leceh ... so conclusion dia, baik ko hantar kat Guitar Tech aje ... sebab kalo salah estimation of leveling it can made you string sounds dead... trust me on this ... been there done that.... so sekarang aku hantar aje kat Tham (PJ) shit this guy work wonders on refretting ... tengok tools dia ngeri aku...

Izuan,
hehehe bro without the old there would never be any New things... well things evolved dont they??.... BTW aku bukan tua sangat ... tua lagi DR Bode ahak ahak.... Laughing Laughing

Ery
Well I guess that would be the best way, last I send my refretting work was 300-400I guess if you have an old strat, LP ka or any vintage shred machine then it is worth while... but again if you love your baby to death then the investment would be worth it. A new neck pun might cost you bout 400-800 depend on the finish le... so with that ... kalo tambah siikit bout 900 or so can get a brand new Jap Fender .... (???? ya ka ... hmmm posible... if you know where to source....[/quote]

dulu i pernah tukar my fret wire....

masa tu the tool yang i used was only small hammer, a pen knife to plug off the old fret wire, kikir to adjust yang mana terkeluar lebih2 tu...

cost beli fret tu i think about RM40 to Rm80 kot... it was about 10 years ago.... kat bentley, can remember the brand, but dah siap potong accordingly to the neck...... so mula2 kena susun which ne for the top and for the near to the bridge..

then masa hammer the new fret wire tu lapik dengan kayu or some plastic ke.. but mostly i letak batang berus gigi lama.. tujuan dia tak nak nak free wire rosak kena hammer tu....

then.. siap.. it takes me a few hours to do that.... tak terpikir pun kena guna tools yang very high tech atau unique ke hapa... masa tu pikir janji fret wire dapat tukau.....

it was not perfect sebab... kengkadang 1st string sangkut kat fret... second ada buzzing sebab height fret wire tu aku ketuk tak really balance....

aku grade kerja aku as 80 percent puas hati.....

but i dont care... puas hati aku sebab i did my self... low cost, the problem was minimal...buzzing cuma satu dua note je.. then msalah string tersangkut tu tak selalu...especially u know whre is the loopwhole dia tu..... eke ke kek e...

now... i prefer to do maintenance to ensure fret wire tak cepat haus........ kalau tak sakit kena tukar fret wire....

yeah
i hate fret wear cause its expensive to re fret
what i do now is i wipe the strings each time before and after i play my guitar
cause i figure rusty strings causes more friction thus faster fret wear

and jengofett..
u sure u can get a brand new jap fender for RM900?
u talking bout strat?
i havent seen a brand new strat that cheap
well if it is true i sure want to know how to get it

khairold, i think he was going on about the neck (not the whole thing) of a jap strat bing RM900.
