i'm using plasterboard for my walls... they have been insulated with about 1.5 inch thick rockwool which acts as a sound absorbent

also... certain sections of the studio have been draped with curtains... i've removed them for this photoshoot cuz it makes the room so much darker

plasterboard is a hard surface rite? i'm not so sure about this... sorry if im wrong... eventhough got 1.5" rockwool inside.. hard surface still bouncing the sound.... at least 20% - 30%... curtain is a good idea... i'm not trying to spoilt ur business... but i had this nighmare experience before.... sound are bouncing like crazy... but got to try ur studio first to know.... err... 1 more... too much pillow or fabric inside the bass drum can absorb the bottom sound... so the other band members may not hear it... i agree with u.... i still need to add more sound absorbent material in the studio as the sound still bounces around alot... it gets quite loud if a heavy band jams in there... but so far not much complains from my regulars... maybe it's cuz i don't get many heavy bands in my place

do you know where i can get good quality sound absorbent material? & i don't mean egg cartons & industrial foam here....

yeap.... the bass drum is too stuffed with fabric... we've removed it.... the pic was taken before we re-skinned the drums

i'm not sure where to get a good quality sound absorbent material... because i'm not into the business... but the "kulit telur" like( i don't know the exact name) foam is good for soundproofing... 1 more is fabric fibre... very good to eliminates high frequency... so it became not so bingit lahh...

tips to get heavy band customers (i refer heavy is a metal band)...

for guitar...
just give them MT-2 Metal Zone.. they love it.. GE-7 is a bonus

for drumset....
1. make it 2(or more) toms there
2. twin pedals (a must) - cap ayam pun boleh
3. do not ever masking taped the skin esp.. snare n bass drum (reason - the sound may come out dead)
4. piccolo snare, splash or china cymbals is a bonus
5. jangan sombong SmileSmile
