hmm GG KlasikA tu maybe mahal skit utk aku, try call Tham (from PJ) 012-2350670... ramai gak yg rekemen dia ni. aku pon nak hantar setup kat dia one day nanti (bila ada sen). cost maybe around rm150 kot utk intonation + setup. install pick up tak sure, maybe rm30 - rm50 or more.
tapi kalau tak silap kat DOREMI ada buat setup + intonation around RM60 je kot, not sure, aku baca sekali imbas je hari tu. _________________ > facebook

ko nak tau GG punya handiwork, tanya rikirahman. in fact, i'm surprised he hasn't said anything in this thread. semua guitar2 vintage dia GG yg setup.
apparently he's good. _________________ "my small self...like a book amongst the many on a shelf.."

I often go to guitar store hartamas...cool guys there, esp Fadli. Just got my pickup installed there for around 40+, inc of basic checkup. But sadly, the pickup is not really giving me that dark tone that i wanted...but heck, at least its a Seymour duncan pickup! Maybe i shud try some EMG pickups someday.
The best thing was that when i was there last Saturday, Karl Cromok was picking up his guitar there after servicing. He used an old Charvel / Jackson. We jammed a bit of Misty there...he did that haunting solo using the new rm400+ zoom effects processor (well, i played simple rythms of course).
A few customers there were in awe of his playing. His melody is sooo...how to sayu...sweet, dark but has that unique melayu tone...the beauty of original line-up Cromok.
If you often go there (of course lah give them business a bit), you can surely lepak2 and learn a lot about guitars from there, and test lotsa fine guitars (Godin esp). A bunch of helpful dudes there.
So try giving them a call and speak to FAdli and Kheng and surely u'd get loads of input...number aku lupa lak...lu try cari directorylah... |

hoho cool! jammin with Karl?? btw is it the new Zoom G2 efx processor (the newer version of 505II) he's playing?
hey, what model of the duncan pickups you installed? care to review? coz i'm thinking of changing my pickups someday and don't wanna get dissapointed! _________________ > facebook

eh...awat gue menggatal speaking previous post tu ha? ...hehe..
yupp..we jam using that new zoom...aku racun sikit2 Karl promo dia benda tu. Yg kalakonye, actually i was the one who wanted to test the zoom but he was the yg dok syok melayan benda tu pulak...tapi gue happy aje.
I think at home he uses all those built in professional effects processor, dia tak mainlah mainan pijak pijak ni. Tapi yg sedih la ni dia main gitar kat rumah je syok sorang...so i think i was lucky to have the previlege to see him in action after sooo many years!
i bought PU SD model sh-10 full shredder...from my untrained ear, and as the name suggests, i guess it's more suitable for paul gilbert style...Actually the seller pun had informed me about that...still it could do reasonably well with metal but its not really for deep pantera-ish metal. Had only tested it wih my Zoom 707ii...maybe with my metal zone it will 'shine' more...nanti aku check.
Heard if you want a good metal tone, better go for those active EMGs or SD Invader. But once u have a metal-ish PU, your clean tone will be adversely affected. For the SH-10, the clean tone dia oklah..and the hum / hiss pun very low...so that's one great thing about aftermarket PUs
mind you - bentley is selling this for rm380...i bought this for a lot cheaper...so no complaint.
anyways...do take my silly 'review' with a pinch of salt. better guitarists out there will surely could give more input about the PU. Actually harmony-central review on it has been great...try baca all reviews there
Also do note - you cant exactly copy the sound any guitarists coz there are too many variables...guitar tone, string gauge, effects, mixing, amps, cables, mood, style, etc....so to only rely on a PU in order to get that specific sound would be asking too much. But it'd get you closer there.
today pasal PU gua dah sound macam Paul Gilbert, gua mahu balik jap lagi nak try main macam paul gilbert...(yeah! dream on!) haha...saw the Guitar Wars DVD of him playing Scarified in HRC Japan last nite...gosh!!!
so deadzid - nak beli PU in trial and error je...no fixed formula. But one thing good, is that of course the sound of any aftermarket PU will be better than stock. So ko rajinlah baca segala review dalam google tu and decide for yourself.
on that note, i saw Woh Fatt selling some EMG humbuckers for RM140++...macam gatal nak try pulak ni for my other stock ibanez...
regards
ps - quick promo - watch Salon the movie this raya ...band scene tu band aku ler...gitar yg aku pakai tu pun gitar ibanez aku b4 aku install PU tu. kita main lagu indon-ish pop for that movie scene...band scene sikit je...hehe...first film debut man...balun je... |
