yeah you have to! it's mainly about sebuah band yg hampir famous...
Doc, dont forgot your aliph hi-cut shoes and that Earthshaker sunrise designed t-shirt when u wanna plunge the cinema ok..***true rock elements these are! (cakap macam yoda pulak!)*** hehe
heard daughters of man kidal and amy search are also acting. cool huh? their fathers ada buat cameo kot...Sadly i missed the preview last week...office hours depa buat...
and i heard that new actor, Hasnol did some licks there...at last, we have actor musicians in the industry! (but i think he's not really M'sian, S'porean kot...bolehlah)
so lets now start a confession session. Who back in late 80s do not have these: -
1. seluar jeans yg alter kasi fit gilerrr?
2. western t-shirt?
3. kasut high cut brand aliph or diadora?
4. hanky?
5. bag hitam triangle to...apa nama aku pun tak tahu.
i confess...i had em all! kakaka...nasib baik takde gambar...lucky time tu sekolah asrama, so rambut memang takleh panjang...and no guitars were allowed too...we were musically deprived...hmmm...very sad indeed! |

o yes..i will watch this one too...like Bode..i had a dream jugak masa tuh..nak join a band and record an album....but i just dropped it when i met my wife...lagi pun on the last attempt to really join a rock band tak menjadik..i was invited by a guitarist friend to join a band in ipoh ...but wasn't sure for which position ..it was either as 2nd guitarist or bassist...my friend later left the band pi further studies..and know what happened next?..after some changes to the line up...that band evolved to become what we know now as MAY..hahaha...and gua still tabek kt Mus, Man, Abu & Yus sbb boleh bertahan dari dulu sampai skarang..
but never mind, thanks to technology, my dream of recording an album is still ongoing...maybe early next year boleh release la kot...tah ada ke tak orang nak beli..  |

Keedal did the soundtrack kan? It's amazing to see his daughter grown up. I remember those early days when I hung out with him when Farah was just a toddler running around his house!
Anyway...in the olden days(1985-1986 era), this was my look:
1. Eyeliner (very subtle...to get that Jake E. Lee look...maklumlah...teringin nak jadi gitaris Ozzy kan?  )
2. Three Ozzy Osbourne necklaces (all at once) around my neck.
3. I dont wear any shirt...just faded ripped jeans...maybe just a vest sometimes...cigarette in mouth...with some of it's ashes on my chest and guitar (these was before I come to find out about Slash...which prompted me to change my image after that...fearing people might accuse me of wanting to copy his image). And of course, after going to the UK, it would be silly to be shirtless...badan sekeping lepas tu sejuk giler!

I remember when I was in form 5(1985), we had a 'concert haram' in MCKK...we played early Search/Sweet Charity/Iron Maiden stuff....and the band which were invited to play before us at that time was SYJ! Are they somewhat related to MAY...or was SYJ was one of the early versions of MAY? I remember as well illegally running from school to go to Ipoh to watch Bloodshed and Fabians...I have a feeling that we might have been rocking in the same venue some time in the past bro. If you remember a kid...shirtless and headbanging like a lunatic...that was me!!! Lol!
Good luck with the album bro…I’m sure it will do well. I remember the first time I listened to your music, I thought I was playing an established US performer/band by mistake! Salute! |

doc...u mckk ke? laa...have lotsa close frends from there...but all your juniors lah...i'm not from there but from another boarding skool up north...
wrote in another thread - a fren from mckk told me that at a recent old boys' reunion, one of your old boys bought an RM4,000 guitar just for the sake of playing for one reunion gig there. now that is rok n roll man!
eyeliners? haha..i reckon u can see lots of these in the film... |

wow..those years..!! i think SYJ was like Yarbirds bcoz there are many musicians in Ipoh in and out of that band..some of the May guys were also in SYJ before they formed another band that became May later on...oo in fact some guys from Ariwatan were also in SYJ...SYJ is the initials of the manager/owner Said Yusof Jamalulail or something (Pak Said)..mcm related je dgn the person dalam Movie Rock tu ..ada Pak Said gak kan? glad they chose that name for an important character in that movie..Pak Said is ipoh rock father figure in that period...apa je band boys dia nak, semua dia beli... "apa ko nak lagi..nak 'flenje' aku dah beli dah..main je la.." to quote him la...
Bode, there were so many rockers back then who looked almost alike..hahaha so i can't really remember u la.....and now we are all here many years later in i-bands...
US performer?!..weii bior betul Doc..aku dapat trace lots of kesumbangan hahhaha...dah le masa solo lagu Can I? tu guitar aku rosak so i used JD's yamaha yg guna tali saiz 11...adui letih betul nak bend susah nak buat vibrato seksa.... but thanks anyway...dah koyak spender aku dah...ooo last night i have a review of some of the new songs... sounds ok la but JD Wong (my producer, programmer, rythm guitarist, bassist & some backing vocals - fuhh multi-talented mamat tu padahal he is still very young) thought he needed another day to look at all the songs before releasing them to me. Nanti dah siap aku upload one or two kat sini la and pls everybody tolong komen la sebelum aku buat mastering nanti...orait..thanks |

huntress - why the hmm? if u were there during the rock craze in the late 80s, u'd be amazed....haha.
I was more on the thrash side of stuff...old skool Anthrax, Metallica's Justice and DRI man! yeah!
saw Rock's preview in ASK last nite, damn funny story!! so all you peeps, go flock the cinemas next week!
cerita tu siap ada band death metal 'malaikat maut' lagi....haha..so da funny, pakai baju kreator, although i dont think such detah / black metal band had started to exist in the late 80s...thrash metal bands ada lah kot time tu...but it's all good fun! |
