ok...firstly aku ni bukan la metalhead macam korang sebab aku layan byk music tapi metal pun aku layan jugak la....
nak komen tentang cara to become proficient in alternate picking jer and Calibre2001 intention to become a shredder kot?
dulu2 time muda remaja aku suka gak dgr metallica dan megadeth....sekarang band yg aku anggap metal yg aku sekali sekala dgr ialah avenged sevenfold, symphony-x, racer-x....dan lain2 la.....
ok untuk menjadi proficient nak main lead alternate picking aku rasa kena belajar dari video guitar players la seperti Paul Gilbert....aku pun dulu mula alternate picking guna Paul Gilbert punya video....
so kalau nak jadi versatile dan boleh main berbagai jenis music termasuk metal....kena la mempunyai byk techniques sebabai TOOLS kita menjadi gitaris....alternate picking is one of them |

ada member aku bila pegang gitar dari 16 tahun lepas sampai sekarang tahu main intro fade to black...tu pun tak smooth2 lagi...hehe...
tapi kira cool ler start2 main fade to black...
i remembered the first few grooves i learnt after fade to black on a kapok was the song la bamba and another one, that doodle of lagu melayu pontianak tu...gothic siot...
tapi respect lagu fade to black...it started in the key of Bm, then changed to the Am key, then back to Am...progressive metal siot! haha...
anyone here started their guitar venture playing Search's songs?? Mentari ke? Pawana ke?
gosh - i really need a floyd rose guitar to do all those weird noises duirng the solo in pawana... |

i like search song vermy much.. tp aku x start dr lagu search.. aku stat dgr lagu search bl aku dah tensen creating my own tune.. then aku review blk lagu2 search..

Trabye had Pawana tabbed in guitar and bass mag dulu (2002)...lagu ni key in Am
time chorus Am Dm G E - sonang je chord progression dia - and the song still rocked like hell!
from what i'd read, the solo uses a lot of appregio Diminished 7....coz lagu ni ada Am and E (the chords that u must have to use this scale)...a lotsa crazy whammy bar noise...haha...part tu aku tak leh buat
aku still tgh belajor bab ni...tapi nampak macam takdeler susah sgt kot kalau hafal pattern dia and knows when to apply it...

calibre2001 - metal is obviously easier compared to other more complex genres eg blues,jazz..and youre already a blues player rite..a good one i believe.i dont think you really need to worry much about playing metal 'properly' etc.pusing je knob gain sampai habis!then jreng jreng la!however,you do need to workout2 your picking hand a bit..to be able to play those fast muted riffs..so id say its the picking hand&teknik la thats essential in metal..

i start being a rocker with Search song... mentari merah, pelesit kota, pawana, langit dan bumi, musnah etc etc... Isi dan kulit he he he... this is the legend song....
THe most i like was when hillary ang join search. His experimental, riff, progression, so good. but after the album karisma, when Kid join the band, i think that Search has lost their touch...
Talking about metal, i start play with Rusty blade tune. I believe this band is good playing metal. The riff, the solos, the attacks, the music arrangements so powerfull... Try to listen the song like Alibaba, Taming Sari, Langsuir, Semangat Perjuangan, Tok Janggut, Awas, PLO.... Even the slow tune like Penantian, Pertama dan TErakhir, Tercipta kasihku or Kenangan CInta
The Rustyblade songs is so powerful that made my band won some local band competion... The main reason is the song really show your true ability in music...... If you guys playing this song, lets join together for a jamm session, for fun... |

list down some common metallica and search songs and lu orang tunjuk lar skills sume...aku pogo dah ler..(but too old for that!)
so nama jam session should be a tribute to metallica and search or something...
tapi kau confirm nak cari bassist and drummer sure susah...haha...gitarist terlebih2... |

aku just nak share sikit lagu2 yang buat aku paham betul2 pasal modes ni.
1. Ionian mode - any songs yg pki major scale.
2. Dorian mode - try listen to carlos santana esp lagu oyecomova..lagu ni mmg pki dorian mode smpi hbs..
3. Phrygian mode - listen to malmsteen songs, lagu melayu pun byk...esp lagu seruan..kamikaze's version. kalau nak lagi sedap, pki phrygian dominant mode, which is the fifth mode of the A harmonic minor scale.
4. Lydian mode - mostly joe sat. byk pki mode ni..esp lagu flying in a blue dream, if i could fly..etc..petrucci pun ada example..dgr lagu curve.
5. Mixolydian mode - aku taktau byk tp petrucci byk gak pki this mode...try dgr lagu glasgow kiss.
6. Aeolian mode - any songs yg dalam minor scale.
7. Locrian mode - entah...blm jumpa lagi lagu yg pki mode ni...but jarang org pki la.
lastly...kalau nak bljr how to mix the modes in a song..try dgr lagu2 joe sat....but personally i like how petrucci did it dlm lagu wishful thinking...dia punya ending solo...the song pki satu chord je which is F# major..but he blh apply F# Mixolydian mode, F# phrygian dominant mode and ending dlm pentatonic..so cool! Anyway kalau ada salah silap tlg betulkan...explaination pasal modes ada dlm omar's lesson. asapaiii...
