emo stuff is what exactly??? i'm from the old skool, started listening to Maiden, Dio back in the mid 80s, then progressed to thrash in the early 90s...so I can never really comprehend or accept this new so-called emo genre...to me, all songs are 'emo' to some extent coz all songs are true from the heart...dont have to label it lah...complete bollocks there. Just ask any 30 year old music freaks and they will surely agree with me.

at the moment all i can make out about emo is that it refers to those bands on mtv singing (purposely) childlike lyrics, where vocal's melody line tends to be the same from song to song, band to band. but way back before these bands became far too common to be likeable anymore, i was into The Used. i used to think they had this really intense feeling to their songs that just didn't come out in metal, indie, punk, or grunge. all these music types are usually dark, but grunge was depressing in a sneery way...indie's always nonchalant, punk tends to hv really happy melodies, and metal more concerned with being grand and dramatic...
i'm guessing emo means that u strip away all the mystery, sarcasm and dramatisation, and present the sad/frustrated emotion in a much more straightforward manner....
i think the word emo will eventually be used like the word psychedelic..representing the mental side effect of a song, rather than a playing style. i think when psychedelic first came out, it was considered a genre.....rock n roll or blues with really wierd sounds in the background. but nowadays, whether it's a grunge band or even metal, if they have a song with a very strong dreamy feel, it's considered psychedelic. likewise i tink that if a song carried very, very instense feelings that u can really sense just by listening to it, then it's emo?
when that day comes, there won't be emo bands anymore...instead u'll have rock bands where some of their songs are "emo".....or u'll have "emo" moments within a normal rock song...
if that's the case i think U2's "electrical storm" is emo. the guitar solo was so instense, it makes u want to pack up on your wife and kids and go globetrekking to save the world......
in fact i think the guy who does the soundtracks for xenogears, chrono cross, and chrono trigger is very, very emo.

Proses.....it's up to u dude.....cara paling basic.....carik melodi line....humm...kan voice....carik progression chord....ngan gitar ke ngan kibod lagi mudah, buat basic dulu. Kalau dah cun. Cuba jamm ngan member. Nanti masa jamm cuba improvise chording tuu. Tapi member aku dia buat lagu buat beat drum dulu....lepas tuu dia masukkan riff-riff gitar dan bass, tapi cara ni lebih sesuai untuk lagu yg fokus pada groove riff dan drum. Susah sikit nak masuk melodi sebab dah terikat ngan music structure. Itu pendapat aku jer..... Laughing

cara aku buat song mmg simple, dan ramai org guna cara nie... just p dok depan PC, ambik guitar, main la chord2 yg agak2 leh jadi cathy sambil menyanyi... ahehehe

lepas dah dapat cord yg menarik, aku susun supaya x berterabur... then, aku try utk create some cathy riff drp chord2 yg aku dapat tadi.

last skali, p jamm. time nie, aku cuba test lagu yg aku dapat tu, and maybe try to re-arrange em... agak2 drummer dah leh tangkap lagu aku, aku try solo kat part2 yg sesuai...

bagi aku, cara menulis lagu nie mungkin berlainan mengikut genre...

tu je la cara aku Very Happy

Laughing Setuju .....I agree laaaa with u Wink
Cam nak susun part lagu yg mana verse+ Chorus + solo + verse atau sebagainya itu terserah. Takde undang² pun...kalau ko nak letak chorus dulu pun boleh...tapik biar kasi cantik sikit laaa flow lagu tuu jangan terlampau mengejut! Rolling Eyes
