Hi guys,

i was just wondering which guitar duo you think really kicks ass although for me both Racer-x and Cacophony duo are really great....

Racer-x = Paul Gilbert + Bruce Bouillet

Cacophony = Marty Friedman + Jason Becker

which guitar duo is technically better?
i am just talking about techniques and not songs ok....

I like Racer X's guitar duo much more but in the context of technically better I'd say the Cacophany's guitar duo.

i would say from watching and listening to Racer-x and Cacophony that

Paul Gilbert and Jason Becker is somewhat technically in the same level and Bruce Bouillet is technically better than Marty Friedman....

you might not agree but Marty friedman is less a shredder than these guys....although he shreds but not in the same level as Gilbert or Becker....

Racer-x wins technicality...

hmm..ok.
i know marty is less shredder, and maybe bruce better than him.
but from my listening and watching, becker is technically better than paul.
for me,no winner if we talk about individual skills ( or maybe i dont understand the question Question )
talk about both guitar duo, from their guitar work combination, cacophony is better in technic.

juz my 2rupiah Cool
correct me if im wrong.

talk about technical.. becker is far more superior than all of the three guitarist.. but still, he doesnt produce a great tune with his talent (opinion only).. paul gilbert has emerge as one of the best songwrite but i only like the paul gilbert in mr big rather than racer x.. n friedman in megadeth.. huhu..

In my opinion, Jason Becker did produce some great tunes.
Check out Altitudes and Air from his Perpetual Burn album.
It sounds great for me though and he was around 17 or 18 (if I remember correctly) at that time. If not because of the ALS disease, I guess he could write something much more better.

The reason I chose Cacophany cuz I found their playing quite different and to my ears, it sounds difficult to play together as it involves some weird musical stuff. Laughing Whereas Racer X's guitar duo are more straight forward shred in your face type. But I agree that Marty is less a shredder than the other guitarists. I'd also say that Bruce Bouillet is quite underrated.

Just my 2c .
