I'm going to quit smoking. And i need all the help I can get...and please spare me the jokes...i need encouragement.

I'm going to keep a daily journal in this thread and hopefully i will be joined by yourselves.

Today has been the 3rd day since I went cold turkey, and I'm feeling a bit shaky. I went to Tescos earlier, and when I passed bey people who were smoking, I dunno it smells really awful.

Well as i type this, i feel really shaky...I have been feeling a bit wheezy in the chest, and been coughing up some jelly like stuff, no colour...clear but has a texture like jelly...weird.... I think the shaking is coz i have been taking my Ventolin. I havent felt wheezy in ages... Lucky thing i still have my sprays with me. I guess i have to start taking the Becotide sprays now..

I am feeling rather lethargic...like I am about to lash out at any second...well my fucking housemates didn't help matters last night...being inconsiderate fucks... making so much noise last night till 3 am...Cunts..
Im going to shut up now...and make myself a cup of tea and try calm down

/ridzi..

Ok...I had many false attempts...just name it...B'days...new year resolution etc. etc. and all that shit...and it didnt work...and that was partly, being single, I hangout with my friends who are all smokers, thus making it impossible...
My success was when I chose my wedding day on 1994...see...that is a major transition...where you start living with your loved one...and the support that she gives me made me nail it in the end...it took me 8 months to feel kinda ok...and one year for me to feel almost like I never smoked before...and since 1994, I never smoked ever...but I turned to Coca Cola for a replacement and have been addicted to it ever since...but it's easier to quit Coke than ciggies! Very Happy
Those jelly like stuff are mucus from your respiratory tract. Smoking causes wheezing, not stopping it...what you are having now is triggered by other factors...NOT stopping smoking.
See your local Doc for advice with inhalers...NOW...

Day 04 5th of July 2004

Yeahhhhhh isap bende tu memang best....haw haw haw.... I'm going to see my GP today...

But i can guess what he will do...he is gonna listen to my chest/back....pastu dia akan tanya if im on any medications/sprays, pastu dia akan buat test yang aku kena blow into this tube (lung capacity test?) pastu dia akan prescribe aku dengan Becotide (preventer spray) to take 2 puffs in the morning and 2 puffs before i go to bed.

and not forgetting Sabultamol (Ventolin) spray..in case aku kena asthma attack.

im sure he is also gonna give me some phelgm medicine...

My chest is still feeling rather tight, even after taking a few puffs of the Sabultamol spray... I think the doc might put me on a nebulizer for 30mins ahh I just love that stuff... i dunno..makes me feel a whole lot better...like my lungs have grown by 200%

Last night before i went to bed i threw away all the lighters, the empty ciggarete packs, the ashtray....and everything about smoking. The only bitch is that my bastard housemates smoke all the time in the house, and i had to pu a towel at the bottom of my door to stop their smoke from blowing in my room.

It really strange actually, even only after 4 days, i find cigarette smoke really annoying. I dont know wether its because it stinks real bad, or my body is subconciously telling me "Ridziiiii....get some cigarettes....." but honestly, i really do think they stink to high heaven...everyone seems to be smoking away like fucking chimneys...and it seems more apparent after quitting. But i will conquer this this time...I MUST!!!!

still holding on

Since you have this hate towards the smell/thoughts of cigarettes, use this negative energy towards achieving your positive goals...negative energy, when used properly can make you nail some good results.
Your asthma is worsening...due to external allergen exposure...be it cig smoke or something else...that is a different problem which can only be WORSENED by smoking.
Now...multiply your hate and anger towards ciggies ok?

..use your anger Luke...feel the hate...let it flow through you...and join me to complete your journey to the darkside...

Day 05 6th July 2004

Today I got up this morning rather early, about 5.30. And my room smells really nice Very Happy. Here is the story...

Last night, my mouse stopped working. It's was one of those wireless thingys that are bettery operated... so, i had to get some batteries. I needed a walk anyway so i decided to go to my local Tesco's...it was 9pm, a bit late, but i thought Tesco's would be open just like the one in Oxford. But typical of my luck it was closed. I got there just as the security guard was locking the doors, anyway i begged him to let me in, and he did. nice Mr Security guard...i thought... Anyway tough luck wasn't it? They didn't have any AAA batteries...ARGGGGGHHHH!!! Anyway, i politely said thank for letting me in and walked out. Pissed off, all i could think about is... "man a ciggie would be nice......."

There was a man not so far away from me waiting to get the bus home by the looks of it. He was smartly dressed, looked like he worked in a bank of some sort. He was smoking a cigarette...he made smoking look like the best thing in the whole wide world. "I really need to fight this feeling" ...i remember i consiously thought to myself, and held my breath as i walked pass him so i wouldn't smell his smoke.

Anyway...where can I get batteries, where there wouldn't be any smokers around? I asked myself?? Ahah!!! get on the Tube and get to Osterley Tesco!!!

So i got on the Tube...went to Osterley....The big Tesco in Osterley closes at 11pm, it was 9.30 at this point, so I had plenty of time. Its quite a walk from the tube station to the big Tesco, but I relished the chance to have a walk without having to pass by too many smokers on the way. Actually i didn't pass even one!!

It was a long walk...the path way is actually in paralell with a dual carriage way. the way im walking to take you into Central London if you walk long enough, and the opposite direction takes you to Heathrow Airport. As i walk to Tesco's, I can see the planes lining-up to land at the airport, quite an amazing thing to watch. They form a perfectly straight line with a distance of approximately 30 seconds from each other.

Anyway I finally got to Tesco's and this is what I bought..

1) AAA Batteries (always Duracell, never anything else- I trust this brand)
2) Orange Juice
3) Apple Juice
4) Persil - Planning to to a big washing day to rid of the smoke smell off my clothes and sheets...
5) A low energy Phillips light-bulb (16W bulb as bright as a 100w amazing huh??
6) A new toothbrush (Oral-B)
7) Glade Air Freshener

Anyway...it was 10pm by the time i finished going round and round tesco's like a headless chicken. This is because I usually take a list with me when i go shopping, this is more of a off-the-top-of-my-head shop.

The Glade Air freshener is amazing...its not one of those sprays (sprays irritate me) Its just this piece of glass with this jelly-like stuff. It's decorative as well as functional. Usually my room has positive pressure... but last night fresh air was blowing in, i put the freshener in from of the window...and my room just smells really nice. Quite girly actually..but hell, it beats smelling like an ashtray anyday.

I gave Mum in Oxford a call, havent heard from her for a while, she sounded really tired, I could tell that she misses me, and she kept asking me when I'm coming to Oxford next. We talked for a good 15 minutes, and i mentioned Daniels cover of Ace Of Spades to her, I sent her the link via email, and I think she is gonna have a listen tomorrow.. hehheh..Oh yeah Daniel, she is still waiting for pictures of Esme!!!

Then I just went to bed. I slept so well. Could this be a positive effect of the lack of nicotine???

its 11.04am on day 05....and Im feeling good and quite confident with myself!!! Still early days..... one day at a time.....

Hehehe... yes master....i can feel the hatred..bubbling away underneath....

Im just a bit curious, kenapa selama ni aku merokok tak pulak aku rasa semput2. Bile berenti aje I feel like that...

Yesterday I took half day off and went to see my GP, and he gave something new to take. He has taken me off Becotide (to my surpise and put me on a different kind of preventer...tah apa nama dia...but apparently its a new drug.... but again two puffs in the morning and two puffs before bedtime.

I no longer feel tight in the chest, thank f**k for that and the jelly shite is gone now, thank god. But my throat is feeling a bit sore......why la ye? tetibe je bole sakit tekak pulak? I heard some people say that cigarette smoke has anaesthetic properties, which makes our throat numb to mild pain...betul ke doc??
