Quote: | cosmo sekarang dah ganas kat babak tube ni... tapi dia mau start dgn tube pedal dulu. tak mau rush dia bilang. tone wise is very important to him. basic tube amp dia buat research kat bassman. advance progression dah jalan. next step, tube amp lak. btw, computer laptop pakai tube ko tu tak siap2 lagi ke? uncle dah lari malam dan terjun tingkap bila dengar lu cari dia, ha ha ha ha! |
Aku rasa lom sampai tahap tu lagi. macam izzi, aku ne takut dengan high voltage. Insuran tak cover kata agent insuran gua. Pedal aku berani skit pasal pakai 12v jer dulu... hehheheheh.
Maybe aku plan nak study Marshall circuit plak. Sebab banyak part aku tak faham sebab bassman nyer litar adalah antara yang wierd dalam sejarah tubeamp. walo pun ia paling basic.
Marshall + fender = baru berani.
Set saturday or sunday mai umah gua. bawak Jtm45 tu sekali boleh di tumpangkan kan speaker laney tu. kita fire up bassman vs jtm.
Aper aper call sms kaa... Gua sudah booking rumah aku buat testing amp. Dan beli ear plug utk istri aku pakai.... hhahahahahha _________________ Maiden, loudness, ACDC, black sabath, deep purple, jimmi and vinnie moore

Somebody (mat saleh) in the other forum said Ceriatone use electrolytic caps of questionable quality. He's not any known amp builder with questionable credibility, just a rumor monger I guess. But since aku pun taktau ape caps yang Nik guna it'd be nice to know..
yang aku tau;
poly caps - mallory
pots- alpha
tubes - JJ
Tranny die pun aku tak tau jugak pakai jenis apa.
aku tau korang akan suruh aku tanya nik sendiri tapi aku maleh ar, segan! hahahaa! |

fretted bro,
i have doubts also in kfcs 11 herbs questionable quality. i will ask jimi or srv to query col. sanders themselves, and i will let you know soon of the results..... ha ha ha ha!
there are 3 things here that i will share with our fretted bros, no offence and i don't want to become a 'lauya burok' here, but just plain facts...
1) they are not comfortable when nik using his own label (ceriatone) on the caps, they are asking him to put different names. nik end up putting. holy grail tone on the caps... (from where he got the caps, ha ha, he won't tell you nor the rest of them!, trade secrets la bro...)
2) i've known nik for myself, his amps are well known for his unquestionable quality and tone. you can check this on many of the reviews. personally he hand selects all the material himself (just like leo and jim did on his early days). i do know who uses his products, change the pt and ot, change the label as well (brand name), but that i can't tell you. thats why i bought his amps now, before it goes mass pro, ha ha ha ha!...
3) most of the reviews now comparing his quality to the originals, all of them do agree that niks amp has the best tone threathening most of the famous boutique amps.... (typical minyak sawit vs corn oil issue i guess!...)
4) i think most of us has also questionable quality on marshalls and fenders now, are we buying the brand or the tone?
thats why i'm fussy on many issues nowadays, even on the guitars i've used. let me share this case study. one day at my friends place with a couple of pros and collector (no names here), we've tested and played few guitars for the sake of testing and fun. we discovered that a vintage greco, all original parts, beats up a reissue custom shop and even a 70s vintage strat, really... we laughed and laughed, but seriously, this is what happens. we were discussing the morals out of it and we aggreed to this (dispute). but at one glance you will decide the hirachy goes like this...
campione delmondo la stratocaster.
1) vintage strat
2) 70s strat
3) greco
but tone wise,
1) greco
2) vintage strat
3) 70s strat
we have to be honest and flexible here, hard to swallow, but in reality, it is. thats the conclusion. btw, i've played many vintage guitar and amps, most are really2 awesome la fretted bros, but there are also shits ones... maybe due, defect, 2nd grades or damaged on arrival or solely abused by nature. (remember, most of the overseas guitar when brought back home, do not open them immedietly, lay them to rest and to adjust itself to the enviroment, say 2 or 3 days. this issue is most applicable to newer guitars. this is also apply to some old and seasoned guitars as well. this is a fact, can't fight mother nature. have you notice that i'm always making a lot of noise on the quality of the trust rods, poor quality ones won't survive la bro..) if you do have friends performing overseas, go and ask them... you can get 1st class info and real life info, not some make up reality shit tv show!...
but as for amps, they don't make things like they used to... i remember those old days you can get a good sounding pedals out of the box, no need to mod anything at all, play them, 'greennnngg!', as like, wow!. same goes to guitar and amps!.... but as you grow older, preferences do change. there are many things in life that you can't see and feel, you are seeing and feeling it nowadays... sure i missed my dad a lot!
and also, i've notice that nowadays many2 people jump to modifications and building musical instruments, pedals, amps etc. etc. (this apply to locals and overseas ppl) without truly understanding the real meaning of good tones and setup, just products only. some of them they really do dig things out la bro, either an individualist or a builder, i do respect them a lot. and the terms they using sounds so funny, until you experienced it and feel it yourself, you will understand why they describe it in such a manner, pergh!
yeh, you do have to start somewhere, but at least get in line (buckle up) before you get started jumping all over. remember, schematics and assembly layout can't give sound. sad to say that some people are really2 toneless but technically smart. this is just like plastic model assembly, it requires art as well to make as real as possible. have the word 'perfectionist' ring a bell? bet you guys that even my 9 year old son can assemble a tamiya puma armoured car. get the message?
try playing as much good quality pedals, instruments or amps (regardless new or old) with proper setup to have vast understanding of the true meaning of musical and tone value as a package. play them out loud if you can so that you can get the feelings. if you have limits here, that i can't help you and you know what to do. even leo and jim looks for musicians or players to give comments, not like endorsement or signature series today, but and honest fruitfull comments. nik is doing this, mostly overseas players.. local musicians, hmmmm, no comment la bro. period.
so far gg pro shop and nik have not dissapointed me in my quest. the rest is just talk and talk and talk only... i'm looking forward for more of these kind of character and i've notice many upcoming promising young guns. did anybody of you guys know that analog man is the late cesar diaz apprentice? (they are hispanic la bro..) have anybody checked that leo's actual name is leonadas... (hmmm, check that one out! ha ha ha!) he also mentioned in his early catalog that all his electric guitar is spanish electric guitar?
leo never played the guitar but he managed to build a gracefully designed guitars until today. i just love strat and teles, don't know why la guys... (i do respect other makers as well, just not my cup of tea, get that?) what he have in common with jim is the love for tone and a pair of golden ears. each time i see their early products, i drool..... and another thing la bro, make sure your desire fits your wallet, talent is another issue!... ha ha ha ha!
opps! got to go now... thanks for reading!

Workers at kfc know nothing about the formula yet they've been sellin same good 'ol chickens forever. I'm not gonna get caught into neverending technical vs ears argument here, but suffice to say in order to have good results you need both. Trying & cranking out the real things is a good idea, but listening to clips/records is a good point to start with, more practical & cheaper too.
I tend to get more interested with technical questions, been almost a second nature. Saves time, concise & accurate.
See, some people are more interested with questions like this;
"What determines a good quality caps? variation due to voltage/current swing? effects due to heat/temperature? tolerance? etc"
Not something like, "which amp uses the best caps?"

I think it is completely normal for them to feel inferior of qualities of the products because they've never got to try 'em in person, esp mat saleh who were always known to look down on Asians (cilako betul).
But anyway, let'd talk about something more interesting. How much did you spend on that amp? How long did it take you to finish it? What cab? Piccie? Sound clips? |

wow good sustain.. sound pun trasparent la..
ini kalau real life punya sound confirm better. Dlm video ni sound limited dgn mic technology dan juga decoding programe. Sapa yg tak matang dlm menilai soundclip brg2 muzik tu awas! haha.. _________________ Gelanggang guitar : http://guitarden.starahead.com |

Agree! Now everytime I find a post on the net with something like,"I heard Ceriatone uses unknown caps with questionable quality and they're made in Indonesia and use monkeys to help assemble the boards" then I'll point them straight to that thread.
But seriously though, I really think we should give more exposure to our local musicians about Nik and Ceriatone. Looks like these days people are more interested with screamo and chugga-chugga sound of solid state and distortion pedal, wasted their money on imported stuff, while one of the most coveted sound in the world sits right in front of their lawn. Irony.. I wonder what Nik have to say about this.
Bro keyser, that sounds really good, very rich and astounding. There's subtle harmonics that pops out all over the place, at first I thought you used a chorus pedal! Really good sounding. RM500 is damn cheap! |

Masa kat forum electronic orang putih, aku selalu mengeloh pasal aku duduk kat malaysia, sebab banyak part tak der kat sini dan itu dan ini.
Tapi, diorang [ong putih] cakap aku plak yg beruntung sebab ceriatone ada kat malaysia, diorang memang nak sangat amp ceriatone. hahahah. Diorang ask me everting bout ceria, the part, the cacullation, but aku just kata " trust ur own ear'.
Aku dah beli cap dari ceriatone, filter cap tu bagus, low noise, memula terkezukk juga sebab cap dia tulis ceriatone dan holy grail... tapi cool soit.
First time jumpa Nik, teringat aku ayat dia, 'NO PAIN NO GAIN'. dia memang cool. Tapi aku lupa nak kecek klate dengan dia... _________________ Maiden, loudness, ACDC, black sabath, deep purple, jimmi and vinnie moore

No..just the amp only..no chorus..direct in ..thats the diffrent between single ended and pushpull..single ended rich in power tubes harmonics..push pull cancel the hum and the harmonics..but got ppooowwwerrr...er..higher wattage..the highest watt for single ended maybe about 20W..using kt88 power tubes..theres guy in ax84 done that..
that vids sound not really the actual sound..maybe next time try to record using DI box and condenser<--as bro IZZI said..thanks for the info IZZI..!! |

fretted bros,
jimi and srv said that they could not get col. sanders but he did left a message though, 'it's finger lickin' good and you want to know why? 'cause all my chickens are virgin! didn't mentioned that in my recipe though, trade secrets boys!' ha ha ha ha!
bro omar, i'm seeing nik maybe on wednesday, i'll roger him about the matter...
bro cosmo, sorila aku ada load utk oil and gas job semalam. nanti aku roger ko, pancit aku ni tak habis lagi ni...
bro izzi, see you soon ya! many2 issues to discuss....
bro bleh2, tell them that nik did mentioned that the caps are made in indonesia and he uses the same monkeys that pick coconuts to assemble the boards!... ha ha ha!
bro key, try to get greenbacks for testing, normal celestions about rm 350 la bro. can't hear much kat your tube tu la, nanti senang kalo aku balik gombak kita bawak kat gg pro shop to review... just pm me your mobile..
