Anybody know somebody who is great at repairing rack pre-amps/effects units?

My long serving Peavey Profex II (15 yrs old) is having problems. If I have the choice, I'd still love to get it repaired rather than buy new equipment. This unit has always given me all the sounds that I've ever wanted without fail, and has always nailed every single sound needed during sessions and live playing.

Thanks!

Sori response aku slow bro...lol...

The unit can switch on, but there's no sound. The last time this happened was 7 yrs ago (which incidentally was also about 7 yrs after I purchased the unit). Some electronis guy had to replace the internal battery or something, which cost me lotsa money since I ordered it from Peavey USA. But the guy said, in M'sia battery tu harga RM4 sajer...lol...dunno whether he's talking the truth or bullshitting me.
Now after 7 yrs, the same thing again...and because I'm so busy. I havent even got the time to open and look inside yet.
Does your ADA MP-1 has an internal battery bro?

Yup, my MP-1 has the internal battery, which is actually called CMOS, the same as what they use in laptops/PCs. It functions the same way too; when the unit is not switched on, the CMOS batt will save the program/memory, and recall it when the unit is in use. Most programmable preamp uses this concept. But from ur description & to my knowledge, the Profex may function differently. Im guessing after that electronics guy replaced it, u lost all ur settings except the defaults right?

If u feel adventurous enuff to open the Profex, u can clearly see the batt. It looks the same as a PC mobo CMOS battery. By right if its the same size, same voltage, u can even use the PC ones for it. I even read in the adadepot forum ppl using batt from wrist watches, giler. Razz Which proves that maybe the Rm4 battery can also work, hehe. I hope this helps bro, its not really a too big an issue, so it shouldnt be too hard la to fix, g'luck...

Cheers... Cool
