Guys, is it possible to merge 2 or more nuendo projects into 1?
I have 3 projects recorded separately of the same song. drums in one project file recorded at a studio, guitars in another project files recorded separately by the guitarist but using the same tempo of course, and another one is a project file with several keyboard tracks.
so Instead of exporting the file one by one, is there any way that i can just import the whole project into another master project file? _________________ [ Kluk Kluk Adventure ] | [ Call the Paramedics ] | [ Dot ] | [ AJEEPEK ] |

Yes. All you need to do is have both projects open simultaneously.
E.g Drums.npr & Guitars.npr.
Lets say you wish to import all the guitar tracks from Guitars.npr to Drums.npr
1) Open Drums.npr followed by Guitars.npr
2) Guitars.npr will be the Active window
3) Select all the clips to you wish to import from Guitars.npr and make sure they're highlighted. From the Edit menu, select "Copy".
4) Close Guitars.npr and activate Drums.npr; it will no wbe the active window.
5) Create a new empty audio track and makesure its selected.
6) From Edit menu, choose Paste to Origin, and all the audio clips from the previous projected will be imported into the current one, at exactly the same position.
This is a handy timesaving feature. Hope this helps. _________________ [Record Producer/Mixer/Recording Engineer]

The above method works for audio clips.
When you refer to VSTs, are you more accurately referring to the plug-ins used in the channels; or are you referring to VSTI's (VST Instruments)?
The term VST is often confused/abused to refer to all sorts of plug-ins and VSTi; whilst in actual fact refers to the software protocol developed by Steinberg.
OK, back to the topic ... assuming you mean the plug-ins and settings, its easy.
Phase #1 - Guitars.npr
1) At the Mixer window, Shift+Select (by clicking) all the channels you wish to import.
2) Look for a horizontal blue strip just above the pan control.
3) RIght-click, and a menu will appear. Click "Save Selected Channels"
4) A dialog box will prompt you the name and save a mixer settings file *.VMX. Choose a name.
Phase #2 - Drums.npr
1) Now highlight and select ALL the channels that you imported earlier (refer to original post).
2) Right-click on any of the highlighted blue strips. Click "Load Selected Channels".
3) Select the *.VMX file you saved earlier and click "Open"
4) All the VST plug-ins, fader settings, EQ, pan control settings, aux send settings used in the previous project will be copied into the new project.
Hope this helps. Cheers. _________________ [Record Producer/Mixer/Recording Engineer]

Another option will be..
go to the project u wanna copy from, let's say jedi's Guitar.npr
open the project--> highlight the track u want to export
then go to File-->Export-->Selected Tracks.
It'll ask you to copy or reference. Normally I choose copy to make a save copy of the file.
then make a temp folder to for the exported file.
It'll make a Media folder(where all your .wav files will be) and a .xml file which contains you r track details.
then open your Drums.npr
go to File-->Import-->track archive
Then located your .xml file
It'll pop up a window-->select the tracks you want to import-->I always select Copy Media To Project Folder.
with this all your track setting will remain and also placement assuming you did start your song at the same point.
You can also delete your Temp folder when you imported track archive.
Note:- this doesn't copy your VSTi but it can copy your MIDI tracks. |

Cheers. There's more than one method to do things. But till the entire audio world agrees on a standard format we'll have to live with the inconvenience of exporting files to other platforms. _________________ [Record Producer/Mixer/Recording Engineer]
