It's interesting to note that teenagers have their very own vocabulary for quite some time now and there are apparently more than 5,000 words in common use in the English speaking world already. There are even dictionaries published on teenglish or teen slang.
Terms such as "antwacky" (unstylish), "cotch down" (sleep), "rago" (ok) and "zip" (yob) are explained in a manner that "rents" or "mouldies" (parents) will comprehend.
"Book" is used to describe cool, as it is the first word to appear when
C O O L is typed when using predictive text on a mobile phone.
Here’s a selection of words and their definitions:
Clappin - out of date
Phat-free - uncool
Oudish - very cool
Gratz - thanks
Hench - a tough boy
Cringe embarassment
Antwacky - old-fashioned
Cotch down - chill out
Flat roofin' - overworked atschool
Klingon - younger children
Zep - a lower class person
Za - abbreviation for pizza
Therefore, it is Led Zeppelin and not Led Zep!

For those who have teenaged children, please read this:
"What the heck did he just say?" is a common question of today's parents who, try as they might, simply can't understand the language of their teens. If Swahili or some obscure language is what seems to be coming from your teen's mouth these days you can still make a language barrier break-through. Not that a parent wants to speak the same lingo as their teen - doing so would drive both teen and parent mad. Understanding a few words and phrases, though, can help you at least feel like you're on the same planet with your teen.
Of course, there are different words used in different communities. The teens of Australia won't use the same terms as teens raised in the streets of New York City. And, there's Teen Slang, Rap Slang, Surfer's Slang, Rocker's Slang and other forms of language now being used, so listen closely when your teen is talking. Use the following guide, although it's liable to be outdated by the end of the week, to try and break through the barrier and communicate with your teen.”
Aight or Ahight (one syllable) - alright, okay
All up in the kool aid - getting in someone's business
Baby daddy - the father of my baby
Baby mama - the mother of my baby
Bad - an adjective that means "good"
Baggin' - picking up someone of the opposite sex
Bail out - leave someone to fend for themselves, leave
Baked - on drugs
Baller or Balla - someone with a lot of money
Bam - used when you've just dissed someone
Bang - a party, usually referring to a party with a lot of available women present
Beeyatch - female dog
Big Up - praise
Biscuits - old shoes
Bling - anything shiny, specifically jewelry
Blow - cocaine
Blunt - a cigar filled with marijuana
Bobo - poor quality
Bone - to have sex
Bong - a pipe used to smoke marijuana
Boost - steal
Booty - butt
Bopper - a female that has sex with other girls' boyfriends
Booyah or booya - used to express happiness or accomplishment. Can also mean ‘gotcha'
Bowl - refers to a pipe used for smoking marijuana
B-r-b - means "be right back"
Breezy - a woman or girlfriend
Broad - a woman
Bounce - leave
Break out - leave
Breeze out - go away
Buff - an attractive-looking member of the opposite sex
Buggin' - getting upset
Busta - punk or jerk
Bust a cap - shoot someone

So, what do our teenagers use in this country? It is something which would be most interesting to find out. I am out of touch with this but I do know a couple:
Kantoi – failed
Awek – girlfriend or boyfriend

In my future posts I may be using words that people here may find offensive. They are "pantat", "butuh" and "jalang". Where I come from, "pantat" simply means "buttocks" and are used very freely. "Butuh" means "strong" or "firm". Panti or pantek (that's how it sounds like) means "ball" in Tamil. If you happen to play golf and have an Indian caddy, tell him to shout "ball" in Tamil to warn the people in front of you that your ball is heading towards them. See how funny the situation can be. You'll probably laugh until the 18th hole. "Saya nak pergi "jalang"" is a perfectly safe sentence as used by people in Terengganu. So, if I happen to use any of these words in my future posts, please don't start flaming me. Thank you.

we, as my housemates call balls, 1-'bijik kontol' 2-'bijik converse'
as in Converse the brand name.
and yes in some places 'pantat' means buttocks.
so hak you're from Sabah or org jawa i figure.

Someone just got shot for for talking about 'race' and I shall avoid talking about it for fear that this thread will be locked and shut down like what happened to another thread in this forum not too long ago. What I am looking forward to is to keep this thread going and interesting with more contributions coming from members.
No, I am not from those places that some of you are suggesting and it doesn't matter whether I am Chinese, Indian, Malay, Minang, Siamese, Bengkalis, Mandailing, Sundanese, Bugis, Banjarese, Mixed Blood, Boyan, Jawa, or etc. Well, I have worked in Jakarta, Bali, Medan and Surabaya and served in states like Kelantan, Terengganu, Perak and Johore and have been to all the other states in Peninsular Malaysia and I have small businesses in Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. I also have travelled quite a bit and have gone to Australia, New Zealand, USA, UK, Ukraine, Turkey, Japan, Germany, Holland, Hong Kong, Thailand, Vietnam, France and South Africa. If I have the opportunity, I'd like to go to China, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Eygpt, Jordan, Iraq, Iran, Kuwait and visit places like Dubai and Qatar and some African cities in Ghana and Mozambique. I like how the Northern Malaysian slangs sound and appreciate the Terengganu lingo but still couldn't understand Kelantanese and girls and young women talking using the Perlis slang sound very sweet to me.
