kalo korang ada problem kalo nak intonate susah, main guitar punya note pon macam in between the frets, float antara sharp dan flat. please take note that material of you guitar i.e body, neck dan hardware has their limits as well. sini aku kasi tau basic ya. don't get yourself lost or drown in those theorical fantasy ya.. aku bukan mamat cut and paste. aku mau tolong korang ya. jangan jadi sombong bodoh ya..

ok, kita letak acoustic tepi dulu ya.. (i mean the room) no 1, itu axis point is something that is related to the angle and truss rod tension. this will throw your string voice.. somesay sparkle la, trebly la but in reality, your guitar sings.. ever heard hotel california punya solo? back in the 70s diorang dah tau apa makne itu sedap didengar selain dari goreng2 ko yg ko rasa cukup hangat dgn distorto atau drive..

banyak luthier bongok2 ni tak tau yg radius neck (as a simple punya reference) mestila sama dgn nut dan saddle.. ini pon diorang tak tau, lepastu korang suruh diorang setup.. kasihan betul. theory je lebih (baru ada 2 tiga buku repair dah rasa macam CLF lak), result semua scrap! sound guitar macam sampah!.. bila billing, pusing adjust pickup, trim nut, intonation, relief neck, bla bla bla, adjust tremolo springs, macam2 la detail.. ini kita kata GEN SET. bukan generator set yg supply berapa kva tu, tapi general set up. aku bising sebab aku tak suka korang kena klepet dgn mamat2 ni bila in comes to setting up. tapi kalo ko rasa ko suka kena tipu, sukati ko la..

bila dah match dengan angle, kadang2 kita ada preference height. jadi gatal tangan lepas setup tu normal la.. make sure ko ada ruler besi kecil dan tools utk buat minor adjustment.

setelah dapat axis point kat guitar, ko kadang2 ada ini problem sebab (mostly 2 ya, kalo neck twist, pergh! itu lain kerja lak.)

1) magnet string pull
best ko jauhkan pickups sebab tak mau magnetic fluxs ganggu. adjust secukup yg patut jangan sampai tanggal screw lak. pergi ke step 2.

2) string height
string heigh ni ada optimum point, terlebih dia overtone, terkurang dia overtone gak. jadi kalo ko kena masaalah overtone ketika unplugged dah ada, try slightly reduce atau turun height strings. always use a tuner. tak semua orang perfect pitch.. tune to pitch, tengok dia ada lagi tak. kalo dah dapat, the rest of the saddles will follow. kalo floyd, itu two point la mau kasi setup ya.. guna that steel ruler kecil ya. then go to step 1)

3) adalah step 1) revisited. kalo guitar strat, setup neck pickup dulu. 1st E dan 6th E must sama level dan tak overtone. sebagai contoh, ko naikan pickup neck dan fretted kat 12th fret of the 6th E to balik sampai ko dengar ombak (wave).. makin lama string tu dekat dgn magnet, itu wave ko dengar la.. that's overtone. oleh itu, ko reducedkan height until ko dapat minimum atau optimum clear note point. than followed by 1st E punya height fretted kat 12th fret until ko satisfied. (humbuckers ada individual adjuster, ada sikit advantage)

4) intonation
kalo neck ko dah angled dant set. intonation jadi mudah. the best affordable tuner is TU12. make sure needle point betul ya. yg dah out tu boleh sesatkan ko.. bila buat intonation (6th E for example), lepas dapat open dan fretted 12 fret position in tune. compare lak fretted on A at 5th fret dan A fretted after 12 fet. they must be in tune.

EXAMPLE ON 6TH E STRING

so FRETTED 5th A must be in tune
so FRETTED 12th E and open E must be in tune
so FRETTED A after 12th position also must be in tune

BUAT ON ALL EADGBE.. guaranteed you will pursuit of tone happiness.

kalo ko follow all these steps, Insyallah, you will enjoy what you're doing. the same thing that you can check on the luthier yg charge ko intonation, some might be just winding up new strings and pusing saddles je..
