yes, sm57 is sure the thing for recording.even recommended by top sound enginner here.
where can i get cheap sm57 around klang valley?

There are two most common types of microphones 1. Dynamic and 2. Condenser.
Dynamic microphones are mostly used for recording loud instruments such as electric guitars and drums because dynamic microphones are capable of withstanding loud sound levels.
Also to record some singers, especially male singers, and backup vocals.
Shure SM57 is the most popular.
Another popular microphone is the Sennheisser MD421.
