You'll be surprise to learn that I'm still using a Pentium 4 2.8Ghz 
I'm planning to uupgrade to i7 as well. Ringgit for ringgit, an i7 based system is probably the best bargain out there.
Now, I just need to find the time to go shopping.

Aku pakai i3 + W7[Pro] 2.9ghz 64bit + 6gb je...dah rasa okey..
erm mungkin x cukop tuk studio tapi cukop tuk home rekoding...bole buat kerja tanpa rasa tertekan dgn send fx dan plug in yg berat serta plug strip2 channel yang di pakai pada satu2 channel...
Best for home rekod....harga skang pun lagi murah...tu yg aku jeles tu...time budget ade nk beli i7 x mampu..kini rasa cam nyesal skit la...hahaha! |

hehe JD... i already know dulu lagi u using p4...u did mention last time...how did u survive eh? mine each month mesti ada pc problem...haiyaaa...tension.. |
aku rasa JD...rajin wat maintenen PC dia kot...hebat gile tahan lama siot...PC tunang aku...dah nak ting tong dah...hahaha aku nye da piap terus dah

Very true. Back in 2008, I was working on an album and for some unexplained reason my PC kept on crashing a few times a days. I was about to consider changing my CPU altogether when I launched the ASUSProbe diagnostics. First thing I perasan was the CPU temperature was touching 70deg C and MB temperature was around 60deg C. I opened my casing and there was about 5-6 years worth of dust clogging the CPU heatsink and fan. Waited for it to cool down. Cleaned it thoroughly, replaced it and VOILA!!! As good as new.

soo true aku sendiri terperanjat and it makes wonder bila just do little bit clean up..
aku mmg rajin each month ada vacum cpu aku... but kali nih aku betul runsing bila CPU temperature dia 95'C~!!!! gila tuh~!! on pc je terus 95'C
GPU aku standard around 60 -70...plus dia nya fan dah rosak..dah slowing down...but aku tak kesah...sbb mmg average standard lagi..
tapi CPU kene idle 40'C and high duty below 60'C
jadi aku buka heatsink...pegang tak panas pun...sikit punya sejuk...pastu aku siap ambik kipas meja letak betul betul depan CPU...stilll panas gila sampai BIOS auto shutdown... last last bila aku buka heatsink tuh...baru aku perasan paste dah kering ...terus ke kedai depan rumah...beli..bubuh..pasang...settle ~!!
lagi pun aku tgk tak worth it la beli i7 for now.. as bila aku calculate semua heavy duty utk buat recoding dan mixing... even core2duo still boleh handle lagi.. tapi kalau in JD punya case...upgrading from p4...yeahh better take the lastest for now so dia boleh pakai for another 10 years ~!
