No distractions, no batteries, just music.

Enjoy music or just some peace and quiet.

* Quiet a noisy office environment.
* Block out loud engine noise on an airplane.
* Escape the rumbling of city streets.
* Silence noisy neighbors and barking dogs.
* Great for mic placement. Find the sweetspot for recording.
* Will not leak sound into mics during recording

Anyone use this before?

RM450 is a bit steep, and I doubt the sound will be as good as any of AKG's low-end HPs, like the K-66 (RM120).

But the isolation feature will be great, especially for recording vocals.

Read this thread:

http://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=70327&highlight=isolation+headphones

It's full of nothing but good reviews on the headphones. Yes, the headphones are a bit pricey for Malaysians, but it's worth it. Really worth it. You'd be surprised how many people here who don't know the difference between a regular headphone, a so-called "studio headphone", and a true isolation headphone. People would buy these "studio headphones", thinking that it's the "holy grail" of home recording monitoring, and crank the headphone levels up during tracking. Only to capture an assload of bleeding click tracks, hihats and snares. It's even worse if they use a really sensitive microphone while tracking with those "studio headphones".

Having these true isolation headphones more accessible to all the typical home recordists here in Malaysia is one big step in improving the quality of independant music produced here.

Exactly. You know how people always say recordings done locally are still "not up to the par yet"? For a start, what we can do is stop the bleeding of metronome tracks that are found in so many recordings done locally today! Nothing sucks even more than hearing the "click click click" sound on a quiet acoustic passage or whisper-like vocal parts.

Also, these would be REALLY, REALLY useful during the tracking stages. You hear nothing but the signal going into your DAW. How's that for accuracy. Granted, nothing beats real monitors, but most home recordists aren't fortunate enough to have a separate tracking room and mixing room. With these headphones, you can record a drummer who's sitting right beside you without any problems.

Another good use for these headphones is that the musician can actually listen to the recorded signal, AND make miking adjustments on the spot, so he really has control of his recorded sound. Drummer hits the snare. Hmm, doesn't sound quite right. Just reach out and move the mic a bit and immediately hear the difference without moving back and forth too much. Guitar player not satisfied with the cabinet sound with distortion? Play the guitar, while moving the mic around to find the "sweet spot", and hear results in real-time without the room ambience colouring your hearing!

Anyway, I only suggested that brand of isolation headphones because that's the only one I was able to find on the internet. I bet there are other brands of isolation headphones around too. I just don't know where to look. After all, I'm just a consumer. I wouldn't know where to find things. If you can find a brand that's not as expensive as the one I suggested; it would be better. Then more people can enjoy true isolated recording and headphone monitoring at home.

Kalau ade headphone ni, senang nak cari sound bile tengah tracking (recording)...

Boleh dengar bulat2 camne sound die kuar kat dalam software... kalau tak, kene tekan record, main sikit, denga balik... pastu adjust sane, adjust sini, start balik... penat laaa...

at least kalo ade bende ni, kite nak setting miking untuk drum... ketuk snare... bole denga terus bunyi die camne... kalo tak best, adjust je la mic sket, pastu ketuk lagi... macam skrang ni, kene tekan rec, ketuk snare banyak2, pastu lari kat control room denga balik... alamak, tak best sangat la... lari balik kat studio, adjust2 mic... banyak pakai tenaga... dah la tengah puasa... kah kah kah kah...

Pakai headphone biase memang la bole, aku ade 2 biji headphone jenis closed cup nye... tapi still denga bunyi snare dalam studio campur2 ngan bunyi snare dlm headphone... die tak isolate... so nak judge sound memang susah...
