hai semua..saya nak tanya sikit la..
scallop fret..
bile saya tgk malmsteem main gitar ngan fret yang dicungkil..rasa macam best la pulak...macam rockstar..ahaha..
so soalan saya, ape function scalloped fret nih? adakah ia membantu kepantasan saya dalam bermain gitar? adakah ia akan membuatkan saya terpaksa bermula dari awal semula? dan adakah ia susah untuk dihandle?
saya bertanya kerana saya bercadang nak cungkil fret board saya jadi macam malmsteem punye...uh..chare..

scalloped frets, mengikut orang2 yang sukakannya senang nak main dari segi tak payah tekan kuat2..but sure nak kena biasa jugak..
nak buat frets bagi scalloped cari lah pomen2 yang biasa buat dan yang level tahap pro..

apa yang aku tau.
scalloped fret bukan untuk senang nak main. in fact, lagi susah.
diorang wat scallop untuk kesan hammer n pull of. lg cun.
dapatkan nasihat pakar sebelum nak cuba.
jgn nnt dah korek2 nyesal.
rupa je mcm rockstar, tp kalo main macam rockmoon pun x boleh gak.

boleh try. Tapi buat kat budget guitar.. Nanti tsk try tak dapat experience pulak.. Aku dah try kat guitar member aku dan dah buat kesimpulan tak suka scalloped. tapi mungkin ko suka ke nanti..hihihi..

ye2...saya sekarang dalam proses mencari tukang cungkil fret yang bagus tahap dewa...sesapa tau sape yang bole korek2 fret ni amat2 dialu alukan untuk memaklumkan saya...terima kasih...
freq, izzi, thanks for the advice...saya ingat nak korek fret 21 hingga 24 aje...agak2 kalau puas ati...semua saya korek..silap2 kepala gitar tu pon saya korek..ahahahaha... |

Seniman... I love your reply... got me laughing for 10 mins non stop 
Scallop frets- your strings no longer touch the fretboard- less friction, so when you do bending and vibrato, your gliding on the frets. which are very smooth
HOWEVER- If you dont know how to control!!!!!!!! it can be a pain in the ass as suggested from above. The chords will seem out of tune even though your guitar is totally in tune. the strings will receive more headroom for tension changing in a single fret note. if you wanna test out before going to "correcking" drop by fatty and skinny music to test the sample scallop fret jobs.

if you love speed, and if you already have some speed, you'll find scalloped frets quite fascinating..
kalu main kat fret biasa, walaupun fretting fingers tekan sikit punya 'light', die punya feel tak sama macam main kat scalloped frets. Kat scalloped frets, your fretting fingers feel like.. floating, or.. flying across the fretboards if you play with speed.. no kidding man..
you'll play the licks almost like you (fret hand) pinch harmonics all the notes..
tapi aku tanak la scallopkan fret board aku, sebab kalu nak buat massive bending atau vibrato yg ganas2 ala Zakk Wylde tu, ade tendency pitch nak go off.. sebab force exerted during execution of these techniques would be quite.. ganazz.. baru la feel kannnn.. heheh!

Bila dengar jer scalloped fret, aku terbayang man stien, ceta pasal vibrato and speed finger work.
- tapi setelah mencuba ini scalloped fretboard pada aku ia bukan pasal speed or vibrato semata mata.
- Ia lebih kepada teknik dan ketepatan jari.
- lebih kepada down force jari terhadap string. Macam keta F1 la pulakkk. hhehehe
- kalo dari segi musik aku terbayang itu sitar indian nyer instrument.
- serius, kalo korang pernah belajar main sitar, korang akan rasa this scalloped banyak kegunaannya. Aku pernah gatal belajar main sitar masa study dulu... hempess separuh jalan.
- biasanya utk dapat sitar nyer music stail, tak perlu speed tapi lebih kepada amacam jari kita feel pada fret.
- macam kita tahu, disebabkan jari floating, mean lagi banyak force kita kenakan pada tali tu maka makin sharp note tersebut.
- by controling the force, tekan kuat or tekan biasa akan hasikan sitar nyer effect bagi setiap petikan.
- berbeza dengan vibrato dimana kita tolak string atas dan kebawah.
- biasanya utk sitarnya effect, kita tekan kuat dulu, bila dah petik then kita realease the force, hasikan effect toing.
Ini just pandangan gua terhadap scalloped fret.

hehehehe.. kata ultraman_cosmoo mcm menggabungkan prinsip fizik and biologi plak.. hehehehe tapi klu jenis jari pendek and kecik mcm saya nie sesuai x nak main scalloped frets??? mcm mne rasenye ha??? saya tengok mcm susah tapi syok plak pandang... hehehehe...
tapi klu kita scalloped frets kita nanti, kerap x kita pusing truss rod??? scalloped frets x memberikan pada truss rod kita x???

come to gg's place la.. banyak jenis scallop ada.. from man kidal, aji, ajoys (mamat ni gile sikit, dia scallop vintage 64 dia sebab dia punya suka la, ha ha ha!...) and plenty of other ngwie follower.. it's a matter of preference je.. but matching pon is also important, kalo tak sumbat nanti..
old guitars - neck and body (rentung habis tone macam the duck..)
poly paints vs nitro
electronics - 1 meg, 500k 0r 250
fretwires - jumbo or nickle
trem blocks and saddles
setups
decide well bro... there's no post mortem..

| kalo tak pon ko try je jumbo frets lu tgk cane.. aku ade try satu gita with jumbo frets, aku rase jari aku tak kene pon fretboard during vibrato ngan bending. adela rase floating macam neck yg discalopkan..ke aku je yg terperasan sendiri.. hehe.. |
