hehe tapi ada orang kata tak nak main laju cos they cant play laju..
in my case aku tak minat pun shredding .. korang citer2 pasal bastio, kotzen ke apa aku sorang pun tak kenal.. hence tu aku tak bother nak belajar buat laju2.. but if you can do shredding stuff and wanna learn it to the max then go for it!

tak payah pikir teruk2... korang tgk tom morello on like a stone punya solo n riff.... punya la simple line die... tapi melekat beb..menyentuh jiwa... simple2 pun... tgk le sound die... mmg aku dgr kat studio jamm budak2 main... line dah sebijik dah.. tapi sound mmg tak dpt le....

hmm..aku belajar main classical dulu. self taught la..aku kacau mamt sorang ni sampai aku dapat semua ilmu classical dia. after that i went into rock and roll, zaman tu plucking was the 'in thing', tu zaman loudness aku la( "Heavy Chains' anybody?). Then Metallica and megadeth taught me a lot about tight rythming with riffs and drums and bass. I taught myself msot of hetfields and mustaines riffing styles, and when pantera came out...wooo, taought myself how to play rythiming with all the beats and offbeats, where the drums become the driving force of the song and the guitar actually sits in either the foundation,fills or rythm mostly.
I can shred to a degree but my hearts not into it. I met a blues player, and dia ajar aku camne solo blues..and unfortunately my solos has been stuck in that rutt sampai sekarang. Soundgarden and Tool taught me that a good heavy song doesnt always need a blazing solo, rather the dynamics and panoramic sense of the song can bepurely through rythming and fills. Begitulah cerita nye. TAMAT. |

Obviously you havent seen him shred.... I have seen hime shred and he can...only he chooses not to.

aku pulak..blh main lagu org lain..metallica, CoB, Dream Theater..etc..but aku langsung tak paham apa aku main coz aku tiru bulat2 tabs...and bila nak improvise sendiri aku fail!! so aku rasa kena start balik from basics...paham theory scales and modes btl2. peace...

dear ridzi...... aku mmg tak penah tgk die shred.... tapi aku tahu die leh shred..... but he choose not to... because he know what his fan wanted! why? the shred is not so morello..... not his originality...... so why follow other?..... follow ur heart man.

Aku setuju! There are lotsa guitar heroes who don't shred because that's not what comes from their heart, but they can really rip if they want to. Yngwie Malmsteen once quoted that Vivian Campbell is faster than him when he plays fast, but we all know that Vivian is not really classified as a 'shredder', though he is definitely capable.
For those who needs to shred from the heart, than please shred to the limits. There are fans of both kinds of playing styles. The most important thing is we should all play from the heart.
I am just a rock/blues guitarist...more in the 'feel' camp rather than the 'shred' camp. But many many years ago in a galaxy far far away, I got sick of young inexperienced 'failed Malmsteen wannabes' pissing me off saying that I'm not worth shit as a guitarist unless if I play fast...so that led to me having to play a bit beyond what my heart really called for...in order to shut these guys up...'Shyboy' was specifically recorded to prove something to these people...the solos are just my practice routines and has no musical value whatsoever.
In the i-bands guitar project 'Rockin' in the Free World', I actually thought of doing a bluesy/70's rock solo...but when I heard Izuan Hafez shred beautifully at the end of the song (that solo really floored me!)...tiba tiba naik gian pulak ...so in the end main terlebih notes...

aku pun bersetuju...
Kalo pasal guitar, kalo boleh semua jenis skill yang boleh dibalajar aku akan belajar. shred ker taping ker, tremolo ker semua aku bantai...
tapi kalo main pun akan layan pentetonic, blues and beberapa mod jerlah juga... shred kasih jari ne lembut skit ader lah...hahahha.
tapi sekarang aku tengah layan style guna tremolo sesambil pakai effect wah. Jenis nak layan solo lagu macam blackrose dedulu. Aku suka style tu, tak payah speed tapi techinical giler...

yeah stuju sgt le aku ngan bode....by heart is the most important.... tapi cam bode kate la..... benda2 skill mcm shred, tapping etc. ni tetap kena belajar supaya dapat menutup mulut2 cabul budak2 wannabe skang ni...
walaupun korang tak suka or tak perlu dlm music korang, tp take it as a lesson......yeah i'm learning... n still learning..... n never stop learning.... ( cam bagus je aku ni) tp itu pendapat aku je...... nak ikut.... tanak sudah...
