if this Lan double pedal was in msm banting / ncuk b4 he flew to england -and studied in sheffield between 1995 - 1997 - could be the same guy. But in some other thread, i think your Lan double pedal would be from an earlier batch...
tapi i think most of the guys who knew him wud call him lan setan...for some not-so-mind-blowing reasons...hehehe...and this Lan Setan plays awesome drums! (pasal zaman tu kat UK tak ramai drummer sgt...so yg terror lebih time tu mmg aku rasa macam terror giler...but i think he's really good)
ss2 aku pun lama tak turun - dunno ada lagi ke tak? i think too many good jam studios nowlah... |

Malmsteen: Use single coil pickups. Try for a sound which is has a lot of low-mids(around 500-800Hz) and with the bass rolled off pretty much. Make sure that there is not too much treble...just nice to give some 'bite' but not too 'fuzzy'.
Paul Gilbert: My favourite sound for Paul Gilbert's are on the Racer X albums. The earlier albums has a brighter guitar sound then the later ones.
Use humbucker pickups. Amp settings should make sure that the bass, middle,treble and presence are well balanced (you can hear all these frequencies, without any of them being too predominant).
If you managed to get the Malmsteen sound with single coil pickups, then by switching to humbuckers would get you close to Paul Gilbert's tone...just add a bit more bass to it.
The best is to ask Min...since he nails the Paul Gilbert sound spot on (well...he is using the PGM...and his picking and finger tone is like Paul as well...so, of course that definitely helps!  )

yeah you need single coil pickup to get yngwie tone closer.
specifically yngwie uses DOD250 distortion pedal and marshall amp..thats it for the distortion sound. Use the DOD pedal with the overdrive channel of the amp. (dont use the pedal with clean channel. You'll get nothing except thin and harsh sound)..
hear some sample of somebody.. trying to emitate yngwie sound..
DOD 250 ( 90% gain, 100% volume) + overdriven marshall amp..

hi guys,
errmmm....sound ygnwie paling senang pun ko beli jer fender strat mcm tuh....pastu install stacked humbuckers....pastu setting setting la kat amp tuh tentu boleh dpt sound malmsteen 80% keatas....dan jugak ikut la nasihat Bode dan Izzi tuh....
Paul Gilbert lak....errmmmm....dulu2 time die nan Racer-X tuh die ader la jugak guna efx....seperti ADA MP1 dan sebagainyer....tapi Paul Gilbert nih die memang suka dgn gain yg tinggi.....tu die sendiri ckp la....
tapi sekarang ni die jarang lagi guna efx sebab die lebih suka direct to amp jer....die setting kat Laney tu jer.....tu pasal die punya sound ko boleh dgr picking die sebab mcm boleh dgr bunyi steel string tu kekadang....tapi aper pun tu mungkin boleh dpt 80% jer sound die tu sebab Paul Gilbert punya PGM memang wiring pickup die customize.....so walaupun aku guna PGM301 still mungkin boleh dpt 80 - 90% sound die...the rest is his finger tones and some minor details kat guitar die tuh....but anyway dulu2 memang la ergila2 nak dptkan sound guitarhero nih....tapi sekarang nih mls dah sebab kena cari guitar tone sendiri lak....
btw aku tak ler boleh nail sound Paul Gilbert tuh...sikit2 ader la....dan picking Paul Gilbert tu jauh lagi aku nak capai.....kwekwkewek......
btw bro Bode,
aku tgh recording a song kat studio skrg nih....untuk album guitar featuring 4 guitar players kat brunei....tu ler aku tgh takde idea nih....nak car melodi line pun susah....kemarin aku perlukan 2 jam untuk record the first 20 seconds intro lagu.....kwekwkekwkewke |

pada aku bunyi steel string tu mesti kedengaran even guitar tak dicucuk ke amp dan bila dah on effect pun bunyi steel string tu mesti kedengaran.. ini kira syarat basic aku masa cari sound..sebab tu aku suka single coil. Dgn single coil, bila note dipetik, sound yang dihasilkan akan bermula dengan bunyi twang (steel string) dan diikuti dgn bottom sound dihujungnya lebih2 lagi kalau kita apply vibrato dgn kuat, bunyi bottom tu akan jadi lebih ketara dan menonjol.. ini la antara character basic malmsteen punya sound.. mmg taste aku..

whats up doc.. hows ur hand?
skang ni dah minat plak kat sound rock lame2.. zaman2 deep purple, rainbow, ufo.. aku dah cabut efx, pk direct ke amp je dgn light overdrive phew, br tau best..
 and tetibe je rindu kat strat aku... ahaha...
tp still a big fan of gilbert's tone, tp shenker punya tone dlm album force it pun, uih.. best.. any idea x doc? particularly dalam lagu mother mary tuh.. i dont think he use distortion tp more to overdrive kan? apart from his flying v, any tips nak emulate sound michael shenker?
