if i'm not mistaken, the standard professional recordings starts at 24-bit/48kHz... so the higher, the better..
eos: i'm not quite sure about Creative products... (coz ridzi posted a thread stating that they're rip-off!).. invest some more and get the real audio interface like M-Audio, ESI, Audiotrack, etc.. _________________ > facebook

Hi deadzid,
the best is 24bit/192kHz ( for now) but the main issue is currently the CD format is 16bit/44.1kHz. so the producer will normally will try to record in 24bit/48kHz, when it mixdown to 16bit/44.1khz, the sound quality was still OK.
But for certain case, they may record at 24bit/96kHZ.
If you are ready want to do some recording, please consider to get better pro-audio card like ECHO AUDIO, ESI, Audiotrak and others.....

During clinic session in rottwailers convention last day i was expacted that u will teach us how to do homerecording, may be to give us some tips or at least tell us the basic things in order to get a good result of sound. But you ambil kesempatan utk buat promotion u punya business dari mula sampai habis. Was that a clinic session? i was really hope for 'live' homerecording tips during your session.. and we were kind of disappointed.. |
sorry man... i really wanted to elaborate more.. but i've only got like 10 minutes.. and you saw the ladies next to me?? those are my managers.. and... of course they want me to show more products.. but i would love to explain more recording stuff....
and the MACP dude cut my line..ahahha... he's like so confident and just started talking.. i was like... HUH?? ahha.. i dont know if you guys noticed that or not..

Hi! I am new here.
I have got friends in UK telling me about the EDIROL UA-25. Its a 24bit/96kHz USB Audio and Midi Interface. Its small and compact. Looks sleek ina solid metal body too!
Its come with XLR/TRS jacks on the front panel with high quality mic preamp (I suppose that since it is made under the Roland Coporation name, it will have good preamp).
If you need a stable and nice looking unit to use at home or bring along with 24-bit/96kHz, UA-25 is the one you are looking for.

yes i agree... i also recommended this model to my friend, it's available here at Bentley Music for RM1200, quite expensive but it's worth it! _________________ > facebook

EDIROL...?....errmm....maybe not..
bad experience with it....
one of the composers had it...for a few month ...both of it's main outs were producing hiss like crazee...maybe just that unit or wat....but that made a bad impression to me for good. . .

Mmm... Edirol to me seems to work with a lot of Musicians. Which Edirol you were talking about? Maybe bad luck with one unit.
The current Edirols are good! Killer products, little bit pricy but have one of the best drivers ebing written and do you know that they came out with the UA-101? 10 IN / 10 OUT 24-bit / 192kHz and its USB 2.0!
To me.. when doing my music, I need something that looks cool and of course... Good in Sound. Have music will go!
I got to know that the people from Roland came direct in Malaysia and they are now the sole distributor for Roland, Edirol and BOSS products. I feel that they will do more on promoting the Edirol products.

Equipment with 24-bit/96kHz specs are quite the norm nowadays. However, bear in mind the following principle "Your signal is only as good as the weakest link in your chain". This means, it is pointless to be using "128-bit/200GHz sampling rate", if you are recording via a cheap PC mic, use noisy RCA cables, or monitor using a pair of multimedia speakers.
You'll never hear the benefits of high-sampling rates, unless, your other equipment is up to the similar standard.
In the real world , most professionals use 24-bit/44.1kHz (NOT 48kHz as denhock put it). 48kHz is mostly used when there is AV postproduction involved. Why 44.1kHz vs 48kHz is a subject matter that can be devoted another thread for.
As for Creative equipment, YES, STAY AWAY... as far away as possible if you're serious about making music. _________________ [Record Producer/Mixer/Recording Engineer]

i know fews:
EXTERNAL
Pro
-mobile/portability
Con
- less data transfer rate than internal especially in USB connection type.
- higher price
INTERNAL
reversed of EXTERNAL's pro n con..hehhe
hope anyone else will add summore..
my personal suggestion : Use external if u r using laptop or travel oftenly. _________________ Gelanggang guitar : http://guitarden.starahead.com |
