aku pakai bcrich jugak. custom handmade. body strat and reverse headstock. beli 2nd hand kat art tune, penang. riffing macam mane ok tak.. solo2 ngko buat camne.. (syok jugak sembang ngan geng lefthanded metal ni heheh)
aku punye string 0.11 - 0.56 jugak.. dah lama dah pakai tapi tak buleh bending kuat2 pasal aku pakai D standard tuning and tali 6 drop 2 fret (jadi C) |

General:
Thanx all for your comments! Tunggu la material kami yg akan datang. Sini aku ada satu technical question. Baru-baru ni aku ada tukar strings sebab nak guna low B tune. Berikut adalah gauge tali yg aku gunakan:
6th string : .056 - B
5th string : .042 - E
4th string : .032 - A
3rd string : .024 - D
2nd string : .016 - F#
1st string : .011 - B
The problem is: Bila main kat 6th string with distortion, sound dia agak pecah dan ada sikit buzzing sound!
So how do we cater this problem?
Ada tak special distortion / pedal / efx yg dikeluarkan khas untuk low tune atau baritones?
Ibanez ada keluarkan pedal "7th Heaven", adakah itu solution dia?

Deadzid : This is a problem that has been haunting me for years... Tapi as I found out the 'farting' problem is because
a) Bass settings are too high and your speakers cant handle the low end frequencies very well...
b) You have to reduce the gain a bit..
Try and reduce the gain and the bass a little. Or you can try and use a little compression (not too much) in conjunction of a Noise Gate. I find the Boss NS-2 noise gate useful if im playing straight to a tube amp. But because im playing through my POD i use the one built in instead.
It does take a lot of experimenting...But the most importatnt thing is you have to find your sound at gig levels which is around 80-90dB. Invest in a Sound Pressure Meter so you can measure the correct decibel level before you find your sound. I'm sure you all have tried setting that perfect sound at bedroom levels, but when you use it at a higher volume it sounds like shit. There is a term for this effect (cant remember)...its all got to do how our ears actually preceive sound frequencies at higher levels.
The other thing is make sure your guitar's truss rod is set properly...i recommend taking it to a proper luthier. I wouldn't do it myself.. could be your neck is bent a bit.
As for strings...you could try thicker gauge strings.. on my six stringer i use .11 to .62 gauge yeah i know they are fat as f**k...but i like the tightness of the tone it produces
On my seven i use a lighter gauge .09 to .52...thats because the neck is slightly longer than my six stringer (Les Pauls have short necks anyway) ...although i must stress my 7 stringer is not a baritone. Which mean i get approximate string tension to my six string.
I also use an alternative tuning frequency...Instead of using the standard Concert 440Mhz i actually calibrated my tuner to tune my guitar to 438Mhz. To me thats a lot of difference...it makes my sound really dark...gives it a lot of balls!!
I don't know much about the Ibanez 7th Heaven pedal. I suggest you go and try one out...take your guitar with you...or maybe if you know someone who has it. I heard good things about this pedal...but beyond that im not sure. I think Dino Cazares was using it at one point. (he uses Line6 now)
Bode : When I program my drums i do it bit by bit...not in real time. Unfortunately I have a crappy SB Platinum 5.1 which is not ASIO 2.0 compliant. Which pisses me off because my PC is plagued with latency. grrrrrrr. Im gonna buy a new soundcard soon..maybe a Yamaha or a Terratec or an Audiophile 2496. I would probably go for the Audiophile. 24bit 96Khz recording here i come!!! hehehehe.... |

Riffing org kidal biasa laa... Org suruh buat downstroke, kita buat upstroke, org suruh main upstroke, kita main downstroke! Tapi main tali terbalik ni ada advantage gak, senang nak main kord rhythm. Tapi bila part solo, tu yg terkincit sikit! Kalau solo yg dalam2 tu aku kene buat style macam Slash, letak atas peha, baru boleh sampai, even ke fret 24 sekali pon... Nasib baik aku pakai gitar Warlock, boleh dirikan gitar tu atas peha! Nak sembang pasal lefthand ni, takleh sembang kat sini, nanti org lain marah, kene buat forum lain kalau nak sembang lebih lanjut, hehe...

Rasa macam nak tukar balik ke standard D tune lak...! Since my BC Rich scale is standard 25.5", so aku rasa tak payah pakai gauge .062, betul tak?

Hey, thanks for the kind words man...I'm touched! But I think it's important to make it clear that rhythm playing is a totally different specialty on its own...see Ridzi I can play rhythm, but more along the styles of Van Halen...George Lynch...these styles are 'looser'...but I can never play your style... I dont think I can sound that tight and chunky. I'm aware that the left and right hand muting have to be really really good to achieve that kind of sound.
Do you know the story about Marty Friedman auditioning for Megadeth? Anyway, for those who don't , Marty Friedman is known as a shredder extraordinaire...arpeggios, legato, alternate picking, sweep picking, string skipping bla bla bla...but when he auditioned for Megadeth everybody was amazed by his wizardry in soloing, but Dave Mustaine told him that his rhythm playing SUCKS ASS! Heh heh...so kene la dia berguru dgn Mustaine dulu sebelum they go into the studio to cut the album...and the rest is history...
The moral of the story...kids...the majority of the song is rhythm playing and if your rhythm playing sucks...than the song will suck too...the solos only occupy a smaller portion of the song(although that is considered as the guitarist's moment of glory)...unless if you're doing stuff like Satriani or Vai, where you solo all over the song, lain cerita la...but still, there is rhythm underneath all throughout the song...

But i really think you should listen to guitarists like Fredrik Thorndendal (Meshuggah), Alan Holdsworth (Jazz guitarist) Pat Metheny(Jazz), Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits) these are a small portion of the guitarists i adore..
Today I have been mostly listening to Dire Straits (On every Street) good album to listen on the tube!!

thanks for the comment eroto yeah.. old megadeth sounds fun but currently we lack of bassist.
btw.. my band is touring northern region starting this 29th feb and ended at blue planet, kl on 27 mac. hope you guys can come and listen some covers from rotting christ, langsuir and dream theater?
