There're way too many INSTRUMENTALS! So, those who've submitted instrumentals have 2 more days to try and get vocalists for their tunes!
Otherwise, we'd be forced to exclude some of your submissions. Sorry, but we feel that, in order to sell the compilation, we need to offer more songs with vocals than instrumentals (ratio of 3:1)!
Please work with us on this!

Those who sent us songs, we salute you! Thanks for taking the trouble to submit your MP3s.
We can't use all of them... In fact, since there aren't enough songs with vocals, they will be given priority. And because of the necessity to stick to a 3:1 ratio (with vox/sans vox), we can't use many of the instrumentals.
(While we're on the subject, dudes and ladies and all you shredders, please start singing! We need to do something about this dire shortage of singers in the i-bands community. Try it in the spirit of Malaysian Idol lah, or better yet, AF (and I don't mean April Fool!).
We also want to ensure a certain standard, especially where performance and sound are concerned, so please don't be too disappointed if your song doesn't make it to the compilation this time.
We have to make some tough decisions about quality as we're planning to sell the CD. You can always try next year and we'd be more than happy to listen to your stuff again.
(Of course, you can always try and impress us by uploading your new stuff on your page and posting links at the forums!)
We aso want to ensure we cover as many genres as possible -- ideally, the music on the compilation should appeal to listeners with varying tastes -- so we're afraid we have to make the stylistic spread as even as possible.
The main genres that will be represented, going by the shortlisted songs, are:
1. Rock
2. Pop/Lounge
3. Alternative/Postgrunge
4. Metal/Metalcore/Thrash
5. Hip-Hop
6. Punk-pop
7. Electronica/Dance
8. Acoustic
9. World Music
10. Guitar Instrumental
11. Blues
12. Experimental
We should have the list of songs for the compilation (arranged by artist in alphabetical order) finalised soon, so watch this space!

hi, it's me. Afterglow. i've just got your email about my songs being the wrong bitrate. so i've re-edited the songs, as well as saved them as 180kbps. and sent them.
i know i'm 3 hours late. really sorry. wasn't sure whether it's By september 10 or Before september 10 until i took some time to browse through the whole forum just now. would be really happy if you'd still check them out. thanks man.
i hope i haven't ended up being a few hours short of having a chance to be part of something really phenomenal for the scene here..... |

No, it's not too late. Today's the last day for submissions. We'll listen to everything that's sent the whole of today! _________________ ORIGINAL MUSIC: RS / Archtop Soul / synthdude / YouTube Channel I / YouTube Channel II |

i'm a bit confused. when i saved my mp3, i defined the constant bitrate as 181kbps. also, when i reload the file into my recording software, and click wave properties, and check file format, it says 181kbps.
but. how come in windows, when i leave the cursor over the file's icon, the caption that comes out says that the song is 453kbps? |

Repeat: This is NOT the final list!
But the songs listed below made the grade during the first listening session, in terms of sound, performance and, most important to us, a good mix of genres.
Everyone who submitted songs displayed great potential! We're proud to be among such a talented bunch of young (and old) people. Please don't be disheartened if your song is not on the list as the committee will spend the next week making sure we haven't missed out any promising song. At the same time, sportingly take it as a hint that talented as you are, you need to work harder to get your music sounding right.
A few or several songs (depending on the committee's collective decision) from this list might not make it to the compilation for various reasons. But it's pointless to speculate on this at this stage.
We also haven't done a full i-bands account check on these acts, so if you're one of the shortlisted ones without an i-bands account, please create one now and upload at least one song here to qualify! Don forget to email ( ibands@gmail.com ) us a link to your page.
Please don't harass, threaten or complain to Mr. GryMlock and his Mod Squad about the non-selection of your songs as they are busy people with important day (or night & day) jobs!
We also won't be answering email queries so please refrain from flooding our Inboxes.
Thank you all for participating! Keep the music real!

it's Afterglow, without "the"

For being nitpicky, we're throwing out your song! Kidding... Dude, we're not stupid! We had to add the 'The' to your MP3 ID because the Akur songs need to be at the beginning... in case we decide on this 'By Artist' running order.
We also had to tone down your mix as it was too ear-piercingly hot! (More comments on the matter forthcoming!) So be thankful that we decided to be merciful enough to tame your mix for you because the song -- not the sound -- is pretty good.
Anyway, the sleeve will say Afterglow (hope you know what the word signifies bro!)... after all!
