Just to set the record straight on 'Tribute To Mardana': It's a project conceived by Jagmohan Singh (better known as Jaggu or Punjabi Hippie), one of the country's finest djembe players.
He did most of the music and was the main inspiration for many of the fabulous performances by hugely talented and largely unsung Malaysian artists, including the amazing Hardev Kaur whose fabulous voice can be heard soon on a solo album we're in the midst of recording.
There's also a young bagpiper on one of the tracks (will upload that soon) and the awesome didgeridoo dude Justin.
The final song on the album, 'Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji' (watch out for it!) is a mainly improvised, one-take, live-in-the-studio band affair with a minimum amount of overdubs. Hear the great "Punjabi Hippie" let rip on this peace-and-love-promoting song!
All the trax on 'Mardana' were recorded, mixed and mastered on a portable Korg hard disk recorder (D1200). The final master was also burned on this wonder machine.
I still have about 30 copies of the album (it's being distributed free worldwide), so if you're interested, PM me (badmadcyclist@yahoo.com) with your mailing address.
As for my stuff, I also operate under various other monikers (synthdude, soulsynther etc) for my synthworld excursions so please do check out the stuff here if you have the time.
RS
PS. I don't remember ever dancing around on a TV show. As a matter of fact, I haven't been near a video camera in more than a decade. So sorry, wrong number dude!
