Japanese screamo and hardcore band ENVY is back again! We are happy to announce a one-night only performance by the band, happening on 17th June at Pentas 2, KLPAC.

In 2009, the band played their first gig in Kuala Lumpur, much to the delight of their die-hard fans. The band are renowned for their blistering, high energy live sets which was driven by howling vocals, melodic guitars and most recently, the epic tendencies of post-rock. It’s no surprise that ENVY have increasingly found inspiration in cinematic rock and experimental ambient music – genres that historically circumvent cultural trappings.

They have released 5 studio albums and have supported bands such as Mogwai, ISIS, Converge, Explosions in the Sky, Locust, Lighting Bolt and Hot Cross.

Recently they have played at Japan’s biggest festival, the Fuji Rock Festival, as well as international festivals such as the All Tomorrow’s Parties.

Their newly-released album, “Recitation” is a fully realized vision from a band at their most inspired. Packed with more songs than any previous ENVY album – songs lengths range from 90 seconds to nearly 9 minutes – Recitation is more than most any ENVY fan could have hoped for, a triumph for the band and an inspiring leap forward for heavy music the world over.

Supporting Act:

Killeur Calculateur

Hailing from downtown Kuala Lumpur, Killeur Calculateur comprised of Smek, Rafiq, Zamir and Ali. A full throttle emotive hardcore blast with a hard-hitting yet groovy screamo post-punk sound. Inspired by angular post-punk bands such as Melbourne’s My Disco, New York’s Off Minor and Washington D.C’s one and only Fugazi, they have become a band that isn’t dwarfed by its origin.

Killeur Calculateur is the perfect remedy for eradicating mediocrity and boredom when everything in the scene starts to sound the same.
