The Hidden Sessions returns for a third edition with 6 more prominent bands from the indie scene.
The two-day event features traditional punk-esque Iqbal M, soothingly melodic Silent Scenery and experimental electro act Like Silver on 4 November; and continues with genre-anarchic rockers Maharajah Commission, straight-edgers Enterprise and Arcade Fire-inspired Khottal on 5 November.

You’ll need a seatbelt whenever you watch one of Iqbal M’s performances because he’ll take you on one hell of a ride. He gets everywhere, on the stage and off the stage. His music are uniquely his, it’s unconventional to say the least, sometimes feel traditional and other times punk-ish. Maybe it’s because he incorporates several different type of instrument and even acappella, other than what you normally get from a typical band setup, guitar, bass, drums. (Jiboneus.com)
Silent Scenery

A quartet that aspires to craft soundtracks of life with melodic tunes, Silent Scenery, hailed from Malaysia, burst into the local independent music scene with their first single, Tale of a Wooden Door in 2007. The tune that consists of one soothing melody to another is what Silent Scenery about.
Their simple melodies, sewn together seamlessly, do not tell you stories but rather, leaving a space for you to craft a tale of your own.
On May 2011, Silent Scenery announced that they will be releasing a full length album entitled These Still Moments in August, 2011. The band described the upcoming album as a total contrast of When We Escape from the Moonlight (2008) as they’d adopted a more lighthearted and optimistic approach in their new tunes.
Silent Scenery consist of Kit on guitar, vocal and xylophone. Ivan on guitar, vocal and keyboard. Seikan on drums vocal & percussion.

If Like Silver was a TV show, it would be The Outer Limits. The experimental electro outfit charts an ethereal trajectory into space with stories of android falling in love, wormholes, time travel, and what it means to be human.
Their music, a jump into hyperspace of electronic music, is thick with beats and quirky sounds. Not so far of to David Bowie’s idea of Ziggy Stardust, the space invading duo, Adlin and Teoh, gathers inspiration from the sci-fi genre through copious consumption of TV shows, movies, books and comics of the like.

In our darkest hour, we party in small venues. We have limited space to dance but who cares, nothing can stop us back then. For some of us, we just want to listen to the music or live music without even looking at the band or DJ. Who cares, who the fu*k cares. “Yeah, I was at the party yesterday”, means ‘I was partying hard don’t give a hoot’. That is how u party. We love the bands, we respect other bands and their music. They play their songs to make us feel the moment, move and dance. Not to stand still and admire how the guitarist play a solo or figuring out how the keyboardist comes up with all that awesome sounds with just a single synth.
Some nerd, “Awh man, they are cheating and not playing that part live”. It’s called “backtrack” s*it head. Anyway, we don’t go to clubs or gigs to figure out how they play live. We party. We get high on music. Does not require alcohol, drugs etc. Well it’s up to you. Music is to be taken to the next level in this country. A totally different level. We are Enterprise, brothers from Subang Jaya KL. Dance to the beat.
The Maharajah Commission

The Maharajah Commission is one of the rare Kuala Lumpur outfits confidently independent and punk enough to exploit its individuality and freedom. With mostly deconstructionist rock and exploratory instrumental jams, the band’s debut Dialogue Amoureux (Monkey Records/AGE, 2003) is a sinister and unrepentant work of free-form experimentation that defies description.
It’s got the quirk of Pavement, some gripping Slint, the low key of Silver Mt Zion and a dash of John Zorn in the midst of the ever-evolving clatter that allows for a collision of broken down indie-rock, ragged folk, twisted jazz and whatever the anarchist fancies that fall in between the cracks.
Khottal

Khottal consists of 12 members, who are like a mixed bag of pills. This 11-piece outfit skips between punk, unpolished pop, indie rock, jangly and fey melodies that will make your laughter sounds a little different to the norm.
