first skali kena tau main key apa hehe...
pastu try to get the feel whether the chord progression has a minor feel or major feel to it..
then pilih la from plethora of scales utk kesesuaian diri..
apa2hal kalau for typical rock blues progression u cant go wrong with minor pentatonic le...bila dah masuk jazz and byk key changes etc itu kena study lebih skit...last skali bila dah mati kutu main ikut feel saja..your fingers will guide you whether to go up/down half step or whole step ..

You can start by improvise over some blues backing track. If you don't have it, there are plenty on the net. Or you could record yourself playing some blues rhythm and start improvise over it. You can also have your friend play the rhythm part for you.

For examole: Have your friend play blues in the key of A. Now, armed with just A minor pentatonic, go and start improvise within that scale.

That's the very basic of improvising before you start to explore some real hard stuff in Jazz, Rock, Metal, etc..

Btw, I'm also new to this improvising, lor. Just my 2c.
