Is it reality? Imaginary? Or post-colonial anxiety? Depression? Oppression? Or simply the succession of trivialities? Rat-racing? Ship sinking? Or just another sunset rising? Is it the answers we seek or the questions we hide? What we’ve lost or what will we find? Into the Days of Bays we dive, bring a scoop, a taste, a flavor made for you to describe.

Soundscape Records and Citizens of Ice-Cream invites you to the launch of their debut album, “Days of Bays”, a culmination of the band decade-long inspirations from the independent music circuit.

An evening of local sonic-scapes, visual plays and musical flavours with up-and-coming instrumental electro-experimenters The Great Metropolitan Expressway, Penang post-rock staple Coma and electro dream-makers Like Silver + visuals from FINDARS.

Happening on Saturday, 14th July 2012, 8:30pm at The Actors Studio, Lot 10 , with free homemade popsicles from The Potong Artisan Pops for the first 150 guests.

Entry by ticket at RM20. Album at RM25 (event night only) with album + ticket package at RM40.

Tickets available at The Actors Studio @ Lot 10 (Tel: 603-2142 2009 / 2143 2009)

Biography:

The band have earned a well-deserved reputation as one of the bands on the forefront of Malaysia’s Chinese indie music scene. Theirs is a vastly intelligent brand of instrumental rock with an added knack for exotic Oriental melodies, somewhat akin to Explosions in The Sky meeting Ride during Chinese New Year.

Strictly local, gorgeously global.

Citizens of Ice Cream create a sound as delicious as the name implies. Track from the debut EP “Leave it to the Ants” tantalizes the senses with twangy guitars, punctuating synthesizers, and skittering drums.

Dominated by a non-linear movement, the track expresses a spatial freedom that is overwhelming, captivating, and all together blissful. The different instruments dance around each other as the layers smoothly gel, regardless of the configuration.
