Call The Paramedics
These guys’ music draw influences from a multitude of genres; something which is evident from listening to their material. Elements of funk, pop and jazz are lovingly intermixed and churned out as their own label of music. The song writing on all 3 tracks displays musical maturity . Though it’s easy to say that ‘Call Me’ is the most ‘poppish’ and the most likely to succeed in the mainstream, all 3 tracks boasts great hooks, and are equally worthy of favourable placement in the charts (but sorry guys, not in this country I’m afraid, though delightfully I could be proven wrong with ‘Easy on the Paramedics’ currently sitting quite comfortably in the Top 10 in musiccanteen’s charts!). Their music is more accepted internationally('Easy...' and 'Repercussions' in the top 10 in Funender.com's charts). The music has got groove, melody and attitude, thanks to the interesting combination of infectious guitar riffs (and the guitarist’s intelligent use of different sounds to provide different textures), electric piano, brass section, rhythm section and soulful vocal performance. These guys can be proud of themselves as being able to offer something musically different; compared to their counterparts in the ‘indie’ scene where most outfits seems to be favouring a few certain popular genres.
While each individual in the band performs their duties with their respective musical instruments/parts well, the overall performance on the other hand lacks ‘cohesiveness’ and chemistry. This disappointing trait being most evident in ‘Call Me’. And the rhythm section needs to really tighten up, since they form the backbone of the groove. This could be solved with more time rehearsing and playing together.
The quality of production is quite good, though I think the snare and bass drum eq’ing resulted in it sounding too 80’s (and this coming from somebody whose mind and soul is stuck in the 80’s!). The bass is too boomy; perhaps some cut in the 100-150 Hz region and low mids (400-600 Hz region) can remedy the problem.
All in all, CTP boasts great songwriting talents and good musicians individually. They just need to tighten up their act as a group. Listen to their tunes, because these guys have got something different to offer than the rest of the bands in the music scene.
Keep up the good work! |

ahh.. see.. it's a bit confusing.
but totally understandable
allow me to elaborate..
kalau ada jambang.. = yemeni
without jambang = chinese/japanese (wannabe)
takde jambang + kepala botak = Romper Stomper.
ada jambang + rambut lebat skit = Loque Butterfingers.
hey doc.. thanks for the review! _________________ [ Kluk Kluk Adventure ] | [ Call the Paramedics ] | [ Dot ] | [ AJEEPEK ] |
