yea there is. For starters, the actions different, much lower, pickup selection tends to be more towards bridge side to maximize the 1-2khz clank.
Most jazz bassists i know tend to have a lot of highend range EQ-ed into their sound, sometimes boosting around the 10khz range. I use a Fender Precision Bass and find that the 1Khz area is where a lot of the sound lives...so i tend to boost there a lot. I dont play jazz as much as before, so its currently set up for fast heavy playing ..a bit too uncomfortable to play slapping now, but the medium gauge lets me do some fast walking basslines. |
