Allrite, here's the scenario. I have a PC at home and my wife just acquired a used P4 laptop running on XP Home edition. And i've been thinking of getting an external audio interface for recording, something like an external soundcard so that i could use it on both of the machines. Ideally i would like something with a midi connector, supports 24-bit/96kHz recording with low latency and the price range should be around RM600 or below. Been surfing around and found some products that could well be serving those purposes i mentioned. The question is.. does anyone here uses an external audio interface? if yes which model & brand? what are your experience with it and which one you would consider for yourself? or any recommendations?
These are some of the interface that im considering..
TASCAM US-122

M-Audio Transit USB
http://m-audio.com/products/en_us/Transit-main-1.html
Edirol UA-20
http://www.edirol.com/products/info/ua20.html
any feedback would be great!! _________________ The New Puritans - http://www.i-bands.net/audiovault/tnp |

actually for usb-based , i've only used the tascam us-122.... it's just like any other audio capture. the good thing is it has xlr connections, phantom power, (which all of those are must-haves)....
i got to use it because my workplace actually is the distributor for Tascam products.. _________________

so mr. Elk.. apa kesimpulannya? dah beli ke belum external audio interface ni? kau beli yg mana satu?? bagi la review sikit...
actually i'm also looking for a low budget external USB audio interface myself... i wanna get that Edirol UA-20 but dunno the price and where to find them...
that M-Audio Transit looks cute and it's cheap too (i hope) but how about the performance??
any other suggestions? or maybe i should save some to get that Tascam US-122 just like jason's... tapi tak support 24/96 recording... penting ke feature tu? _________________ > facebook

hey Jason ..
During clinic session in rottwailers convention last day i was expacted that u will teach us how to do homerecording, may be to give us some tips or at least tell us the basic things in order to get a good result of sound. But you ambil kesempatan utk buat promotion u punya business dari mula sampai habis. Was that a clinic session? i was really hope for 'live' homerecording tips during your session.. and we were kind of disappointed.. _________________ Gelanggang guitar : http://guitarden.starahead.com

alrighty... akhirnya aku dah jumpa audio interface yg sesuai dgn kehendak aku... bukan USB la, but FireWire!
M-Audio FireWire Solo - FireWire Mobile Audio Interface for Songwriter/Guitarists
product details
front / rear view
Pros: Phantom power, 24-bit/96kHz recording, front-panel microphone+guitar+line inputs, portable...
Cons: Not supported under Windows 98, Windows 98SE, Windows Me or Windows 2000!
this shit costs around S$345.00 (thats about RM800 - still under my budget - yay!).. but the thing is, my office still uses Windows 2000 and it doesn't have FireWire card installed, so i don't think it's quite versatile for now... so for short term, i'll get the Fast Track USB first and in the future i'll upgrade to FireWire Solo for my home-studio project! _________________ > facebook

why u guys choose to get the 24-bit/96kHz things?
isnt 24-bit/192kHz really differs in sound (better) compared to 24-bit/96kHz?
correct me if i'm wrong. _________________ Gelanggang guitar : http://guitarden.starahead.com |
