<b>The i-bands Acoustic Challenge</b>
Wanna show the world that all you need is your voice and your acoustic guitar, piano or any other "unplugged" instrument? Or maybe you're the kind of person who needs a bit of electric energy for your acoustic sound. Whatever it is, we're inviting you to take part in our annual Acoustic Challenge (solo artists & bands).
Just put a song together (you should know by now that we're not so hot on covers!), perform it in a stripped-down manner (we mean the sound not your attire!) with loads of naked emotion (cry if you must!), and upload it at your site by November 1, 2005. Then post the song link here for all to hear.
Those who come up with the most played/downloaded songs (the Top 5) stand to run home with loads of recently released CDs (originals, of course!), including titles by <b>The White Stripes</b>, <b>Ronan Keating</b>, <b>Corrosion Of Conformity</b>, <b>Kelly Osbourne</b>, <b>Linkin Park</b>, <b>Motorhead</b>, <b>Gary Moore</b> and other big names, <b>plus</b> whatever free stuff (<b>Could be strings! Could be things!</b>) we can score from companies that support us.
So whaddya waiting for? Start bangin' on your acoustic now!
And to get the ball rolling and give you an idea of what we're looking for, we offer you some previously uploaded songs at i-bands by promising acoustic acts:

i have a song i could use. but i don't really have the gear to make a good recording of me and my acoustic guitar. is it okay if i record me and my electric guitar, but stick to clean tone? and maybe just very very light reverb/echo?

We would suggest that you beg, steal or borrow an acoustic guitar and record it. Otherwise, we'd assume you're unclear on the concept and send you to detention class!

Drums are fine as long as they are... acoustic!
Just kidding... Machine drums, auto-bass, loops etc. are fine as long as there's at least one truly acoustic instrument (hand-played, of course) in the recording.
And we prefer <b>songs with vocals</b> over instrumentals! |

A fully instrumental acoustic guitar piece that is dedicated to, and inspired by a person.
I composed this piece to illustrate my thoughts of her, to her.
I wanted to paint a picture of her through music, as words, written or spoken, had failed me.
Hence, the different passages in this song will reflect the many different times of my meeting her, the different feelings, the different atmosphere and ambience, her beauty, grace, intelligence, confidence, and anything and everything else about her.
Or in my words to her, “I want this song to be as gorgeous as you.”

| ok i have a question. The song has to be posted by 1st november, now..does this mean that play and d/l will only count after 1st november? If so till when? Cos you see, some of us have acoustics that have been around for months with hundreds of plays already. |
