Very good songs....
But i really think you should go easy on the reverb. Both guitar and vocals are drowning in it....
I think the reverb on the vocals can be left alone. Try bringing the guitars to the front...maybe doubling up the guitars left and right would be cool...it will give the acoustic guitar more 'body'

I think the missing link is..... a string section...if it had some violins and a cello...it would be perfect!!

Oh sorry if the songs are too short hehe... they were meant to be teasers. We figured if people liked it and wanted more cuz it was too short a song then...we should just continue Sweet Laika and come up with a better cd.
"the songs are good, but I just feel that there're something missing. "
yeap...maybe cuz its too short? hehe.. |

Thanks for supporting Sweet Laika and all its endeavours.it was kinda surprising all this attention ....and for that we might make a full length proper cd.we can't promise anything though..it's tough for the band to get together since we're all overseas and the only time we get to write is during the holidays..and even then if we don't strike up a mood by then we wont be able to write anything at all.so keep on clicking to show us your support! peace.

Beautiful music. I love the direction that you're taking. We need more tunes like these please. I love the transparency and the sweet high frequencies that you get on the recorded vocal and acoustic guitar. Can you share some of your recording setup details please? (Sorry...I'm building my studio as we speak and trying to find out what's best for me to acquire!)
As for criticisms, I share the same opinion with Ridzi and Grymlock. I also felt that the vocal harmonies on 'Torture' could be more precise in the pitching, because these inconsistencies does show up with the increasing number of harmonisation parts. It's not relevant now, since these recordings are just teasers, but something to bear in mind when recording the final stuff. I understand that these recordings were done in a rush...so there were time restraints from allowing you to achieve the full desired results!
Looking forward to more stuff from you guys! |

thanks
hmm recording setup..our songs we recorded.. using probably the same setups Roger Wang (RogerWang.net) used for his album "Journey Home". but obviously his mastering was much better on that one.We recorded our songs at his studio RAM Production Sdn Bhd. The studio had very good acoustics which was also a big help.Basically what you really need is a very good condenser mic.We each did our part on little time we had..which was mostly on the mixing.I think all we used were...the stereo mics...good condenser mics on the guitar and vocals. We were stting about 5 feet from each other and for vocals about a foot away.yeap mics were really sensitive.Hope that helps Bode _________________ http://SweetLaikaMusic.tripod.com |
