Hi guys?
I consider my self very very newbies in song composing.
I have composed some song, feeling to sell out. But the main question that i have now is:
How to sell? where to sell? etc etc etc????
may be there are somebody in this forum that have experience in song writing and sell it out can help me,
or , at least some one who knows about this issue.

aku ada jugak tanya beberapa orang, mostly kata kalau nak jual lagu better register kat MACP, and i ve surf macp punya site www.macp.com.my. but so far yang aku baca to register ourslef kat macp kena ada 5 lagu yang being recorded. tak sure pulak being recorded and published atau just recorded.... lagi satu tak tau kena fees ke tak? Itu satu hal la....
tapi still tak terjawap macam mana nak sell kita p unya composition? adakah aku patut directly ke recording company? atau artist? atau producer? how how how?

dude, ideally kalau nak register MACP you should have a finish product yg worthy for market release..CD, Kaset. Something that people would definitely can find and listen to. There's no point registering tapi lagu simpan and orang taktau.
untuk jual composition nih.. ni susah skit ni beb. semua artist & musicians dalam mainstream music industry mmg nak buat mender ni. Sesiapa saja boleh jual composition, but apa yg aku nengok, contact mesti kuat ah. Normally u'd have better chance on selling a composition to another artist under the same record label. Kalau ko ada kawan baik artist... then there might be a chance.
u can go ahead and submit your compositions to label ke artist ke but there's no stopping them from just changing your song here and there and make it their own.
I think this is the only answer i can give you kot. probably not the answer you're looking for.
will try and ask around for more info.

aku rasa MACP tu betul cara dia....tak payah 5 songs... cukup one song pun takpe.
baru2 ni MACP ada handle program LAYAR TANCHAP.... sesiapa je boley join utk perform kat layar tanchap tu.... n ia diadakan setiap jumaat hujung bulan. kalau korang main lagu sendiri, better ko perform kat sana n automatically lagu2 ko akan diregister under diorang n kemungkinan masuk album tema senyum tak silap aku....
mcm ni ko try masuk myspace kitorang.

kat top 8 riends kitorang ada sorang nama radiostar.... ko try tanya dia. tak silap aku dia bro pot innuendo. dia tau pasal MACP n layar tanchap.

good contact plays a great role indeed...
last year gua dabble main2 buat demo lagu dgn geng aku - then suddenly the nearby film studio dengar demo tu, liked it...and voila! - two songs were released for a movie soundtrack.
the songs are Aku dan Bulan and Rahsia Luna for the movie Salon...
and the best part is that me and my band had to play them for some scenes int he movie...

one concern is this..
lets say u hantar cd hasil kerja sendiri ke satu recording company..
but then that company rejects your stuff, saying "this is trash!"
a few months later, ko dengar satu lagu berkumandang di radio..
ko pon berbisik di dalam hati "macam pernah ku dengar lagu ini, tapi di mana ya?"

okay la tu... janji duit masuk.... by the way, memang aku pernah dengar kita leh jual lagu ni in lump sum amount or royalties.
Nak tau gak berapa RM korang dapat untuk lump sum lagu2 tu? sorry to ask, but nak tau so aku leh tahu market punya rate. Kalau segan nak post kat topic ni send PM je kat aku... |

i've spoken to a few music people...they say royalties bukan banyak pun actually...mainly coz of piracy...coz it's based on album sales...so sometimes lump sum is a better option...
the amount? aku pun tak sure exact figure coz ni very P&C...
market rate might go from a few thousand to a lot lot lot more...kalau engko Ajai or Andy Flop Poppy...lagi masyukkkkk...
jgn tamak - pelan pelan kayuh...
actually benda ni the hardest part is to penetrate the market...and to make your name stand out...so itu pandai2 ler adjust...aku pun tak sure camno |

silbi, royalties utk album sales mmg tak banyak. but MACP royalties is not based on sales. it's based on air play. TV, radio, karaoke...
so even if dah jual lumpsum (not entitled for mechanical royalties), lu orang still bleh register for MACP & PRISM. to get "public performance" royalties. Tapi kalau lagu jarang kuar radio, or TV.. then seciput jugak ler.

oh...betul tu..aku lupa pasal tu..
actually masa mula2 depa nak lagu tu we were talking about all these different types of royalties...tapi last2 nak senang, contract jual lump sum... |
