well...looks like there is another upcoming event, and the first band event that Roland is organising here in Malaysia.
Date: Tuesday, May 30th 2006
Venue: Saloma Bistro and Theatre Restaurant, Kuala Lumpur
Time: 2.30 p.m. till 5.30 p.m.
If you guys have watched the Michael Schack and Nick Cooper's Demo (held last year - they did a couple of demos together and appeared on Latte at 8, 8TV), the two Roland product specialists from different parts of the world, you will know that their synergy was so great it sounded like a whole band.

Anyway, this time round, Roland is coming up with a three piece band, a guitarist (Danger Danger guitarists, Robert Marcello) drummer (Germany's Dirk Brand) and a keyboardist (Tatsuya Nishiwaki).
For you synth enthusiast out there, please take note that Tatsuya Nishiwaki is a prominent figure in the music industry as a producer, arranger and solo artist. He is famous for his visionary and distinctive music.
Check out his discography below:

Song List: Miracle, Clocks, Liu San Jie
Romantic Energy (2005) - Twelve Girls Band

Here is Greenwood (1996) - Orignal Soundtrack

and also his work as a solo artist:

Great! So, it is a great opportunity for you to meet the man himself.
I am still figuring how on earth I am going to get away from work for this one _________________ Music echos in Eternity! |

Timing is of most crucial importance but believe me choosing the right time is never rite cos' I've been thrown into similar situation before...but I will definitely go for the best time - and yeah I agree 7 will prob be better. Then, those working can attend and so can band members - who usually start work at 9pm - 10 pm.
prob they are targeting a niche crowd.... _________________ Music echos in Eternity! |

Ya... saya jadi pergi - tapi last 45 minute aje sebab kerja.
Anyway, the Roland team did a superb job for the setup - great sound system, lighting, rig setup was good too.
Tatsuya's rig - he had a semi-circle rig; with a Fantom-X8 in front, SH-201 and Juno-G to the left and V-Synth to the right. It was amazing watching him play with all these instruments within the same song. And you should check out his expression and energy! same goes for Dirk Bran and Rob Marcello (by the way, I think he is still the guitarist for Danger Danger).
They perform two songs to close the show...and mind you it is not something you hear everyday. They are true to making their own sounds and music - so you get to hear a whole band with extra special sound FX. It's like a blend of rock and electronic music.
Tatsuya Nishiwaki was really friendly. I didn't get to speak to the rest but I saw them thanking people who came personally - which is great. That's the thing about these Roland events, you get to speak to the product specialist personally - even though they are some huge personality but they are definitely humble and down to earth and every willing to answer your questions. My friend, Tomo from Roland Corporation was there too - it was good to catch-up with him.
So, it was really a great show! I can write a whole essay for the 45 minutes of awesome performance. The only regrets - it was a performance, full of vibe, chemistry, explosive sounds and great energy but there were too few who were lucky to make it to the event. The set-up was for more people but only a small crowd turn up. Sad - because they were really - really -really GOOD!. _________________ Music echos in Eternity! |
