oo...looks very nice!!

depends on wat are u gonna do with it.
Are you gonna mix on it?
Do u want to edit ur files with those?
How expandable/upgradable are they?

i prefer eveything on my PC. Mouse and Keyboards!

would be nice to have some faders for mixing tho.

just my preferences Smile

Hi just to add and share my experiences, currently not using the Korg but the Roland/Boss 900CD (CF Based), both world serves it pros and cons. The actual audio based guitar/vocals/bass i used the Roland due to the no hassle plug play concept. Tweaking those faders are sweeeet... makes you feel like actual audio engineers Rolling Eyes ...but others such as strings/keys/drums and those supplements I use PC based due to unlimitation expansion. Usually I send all data in Wav format from my PC after mixing and balancing to my Roland and then add the guitar/bass/vocals. Limitation to my Roland it is only 8 track, but it has total of 56 virtual tracks and only 2 track can be recorded simutameously, considering that you only have a pair of hands Very Happy . Finally again do the mixing and/or mastering in Roland.

Bout the Korg, Yeah I went to CK Music and they are offering this babe for 5K... for interface wise Korg is easier to master comparatively to Roland and actual get the job done the Korg is much more user friendly.

ciao.....

if you're on a budget, a zoom mrs-8 would do the job nicely...coz of its portability.

meaning you can record and edit your stuff anywhere. But this baby doesnt use a HDD, it uses memory SD card...and only limited up to 8 track...i think that's good enough if u wanna come out with a simple demo.

but for tweaking and stuff, a pc would still be good since easy to just drag and drag then having to press press your portable recorder endlessy..hehe.

so i guess both has its pros and cons...to me, if you have the dough, use both, but put more focus on the pc.

If you are on a budget but needs protability...use a cheap one like the zoom and tweak your result further using your existing pc.

cheers!

ps - sorry if i dont sound technical - i'm just a layman lost in this gadget gizmo world.

another thought - If still wanna use pc but wants portability, u can always get the best notebook u can afford together with some good add on usb-based music station gizmoz. (Thank God there's USB!)

So there you have it - mobile hd based recording PC! Get some wifi cards and you have instant access to the world! Still, you're stuck to the tiny screen byt hey, we cant win em all!

hmm...did i make sense?

yeah...firewire should be better...

i guess usb is not that good a source since it uses a bit of the pc processing power to run...but i'm sure with all the new processors out there, this wont be that much of a problem...not sure of other reasons. Anyone has some better pointers to add on this?

dreamless - what's yer budget anyway? mos of the time, the budget determines it all.

i now got both - PC based and a zoom mrs-8 - and all for not that much RM coz i bought them seken hand. But i'm still not that good in any of those - maybe i'm just a malas to really sit down and learn...hehe

5K? wow...that much money to spent huh? u and pilot or u work for shell? hehe...

why dont u drop by to midi specialist at LYP and talk to them....i'm sure they cud recommend u for a cracking system with than kind of budget

i think for just rm3k you coudyld get a really good hd recoding system from zoom, which is one step higher then the cheap zoom mrs-8. check their website.

then u still have rm2k to spare to get a really2 great PC system...so there - best of both worlds for the budget...
