Presonus is coming out with FireBOX. It's a firewire audio interface . with built-in pre-amps. Just nice for home recording. if you're using laptops and dont like those pci-based audio cards like E-MU, then you should go for fireBOX.
for people who wants to do a 'better' recording , with more inputs , outputs , you can go for FirePOD. It's still considered semi-pro in a way. _________________

is the price cool too?? heheh btw, what type of input jacks it uses to connect to instruments? coz it doesn't look like a normal 1/4" input jack..
i'm still looking for the best budget USB external audio card.. but haven't found the one that suits my need... please help! i wanna have your opinion on M-Audio Fast Track USB.. but it features only 24-bit/48kHz sound... is that cool or just nice??

i had checked the m-audio websites.. hmm... if u r recording only your guitar... it is good and enough... the main good feature about this is including some software... just like the GT player... if you are interested in this guitar software based effects, maybe you can try native instrument's "Guitar Rig" or "Amplitube"
what i know about thew presonus is this brand is famous manufacturer of good quality mic preamp... (or refer to the gain). if you got the fire box of presonus that means you r getting a good quality mic or instrument pre amp... don ignore the goodness of good preamp... it will help to increase your recording greatly in quality...
cheers |

actually i'm interested in that Fast Track USB coz it's stylish compact design, portability, ability to record guitar/bass/vocal, and most of all because it's cheap! hahah
i don't care much about the softwares, coz it's available almost anywhere here... _________________ > facebook

the Fast Track does have XLR input for mics.. the only problem is it has no phantom power, so i might need to buy a mic pre-amp as well...
other set back for me is that the inputs are at the rear panel! heheh... plus it can only record up to 24-bit/48khz...
by the way, what does the HI-Z cable looks like?? _________________ > facebook

there is 2 kind of cables.... one is hi- z and one is lo-z
hi-z means hi resistance and in recording profession it refers to unbalanced connection. lo-z means lo resistance and is a balanced connection.
normal guitar jack with mono connection always known as hi-z and most of the professional mic like SM57 and other mics used lo-z connection.
hi-z and lo-z is not cable but is actually the type of connection.... they still use XLR and TRS |

thanx for the info.. so basically, lo-Z is better than hi-Z, am i right? but i still don't get how the XLR or TRS jacks can fit onto the hi-Z connection (coz i'm refering to the pic on that Firebox / Firepod unit).. _________________ > facebook
