Hi,
Let us discuss.
I believe most of us have our own way to keep up our guitar, clean and shining so it might look cool as what we hear it.
So lets us come out and share the ideas of how we doing it. Tell us what material or product that we use.
Like my self i used one spray from gibson cost me about RM15 but the result i rate it as 5/10 coz it wont make my guitar shine enuff.
My friend said that polishing and waxing is 2 different thing. Polishing is just to make it clean, but waxing is to make it shine. Which is i think is reasonable theory. So far i didnt go out to find the waxing material for my guitar yet.
How bout u guys? Any comment?

Aku sebenarnya seumor idup tak pernah ada polish guitar.
Aku mulakan dengan memvacum itu guitar, guna mata brush kecik. Tapi biasanya bila tukar tali guitar, sure kena bersih abis baru ada feel dengan guitar baru.
Cam biasa kalo nak clean aku guna minyak zippo jer. fretboard aku pakai zippo tapi ending dengan linsed oil sebab tak mampu nak beli lemon oil. kalo ader serpihan besi berkumpol kat pickup. aku guna masking tape lekapkan pada pickup tu, then serpihan besi tu melekat pada masking tape tersebut. sebab kalo pakai aper pun, magnet tu lebih kuat menarik serpihan besi, takan ilang kalo main lap jer. Pastu apply verseline kat besi pickup pole.
Aku memang suka minyak zippo sebab ia tak mematikan cat. Sempat aku beli stok kat maiden minggu lepas. Disebabkan tak perlu bagi aku guitar berlikat cam plastic, jadi aku just polish putar putar sampai minyak zippo kering. Sebenarnya aku meamng pantang wax guitar sebab nak elak dari bebenda wax, silikon or parafin yang boleh matikan cat guitar.
kalo part part yang susah or lubang kecik kecik celah saddle biasa aku guna small drill utk pcb tapi dengan bit brush. Pastu guna minyak veseline utk cover tempat mudah karat. Kengkadang aku spray contact or wd40 tapi pastikan harware dah ditanggalkan dari body.
Tapi evertime aku lap guitar for sure akan mencuri tisu dapor istri aku... kekekkekeekekekek. Sebab aku tau tisu dapur tu memang cun buat lap guitar. Tisu dapoq tu meamng paling lembut dan gebu. pas pakai buang. Salah satu sebab adalah kalo ader serpihan pasir or dawai masa polish, bileh calar kena cat body. Biasanya terjadi bila pakai kain yang sama.
Vaseline = semua gaurdian giant or watson or pharmacy ada.
Zippo fuild = termurah maydin
linseed oil = ace harware.
Tisu dapoq = gaint la murah.

Hahaha rockstar boleh la buat camtu... A mere mortal macam aku?? Hampehsss...kena buat sendiri la.
Utuk maintain tali, aku pakai Fast Fret... pakai sebelum main dan selepas main guitar.
body guitar selalu nya aku lap aje pakai a damp cloth, dan fretboard maintain pakai lemon oil Dunlop...

Gua guna pledge untuk body ngan neck, lemon oil untuk finger board.
Kalau ko google stewart mac ade ler lagi benda2 yang lagi canggih..

Guitar yang tak de lapisan clear
Setau aku guitar macam ni gune microfiber punye kain
Kain yang selalunya jual kat kedai utk lap monitor supaya jangan bercalar
Guitar yang macam ni kalau guna polish biasa mau tertanggal cat nya kot
Ade sesapa tau cara untuk bersihkan atau maintain guitar yang macam ni? |

letih gak aku buat research pasal mende ni

bro,
matt finish memang asalnye paint di buat untuk dapatkan the matt finish. sama macam humbrol, airfix or tamiya paint for plastic models. same goes to guitar, kalau dah chronic, no choice except to repaint la...
topic sini apa aaa? is it -
a) matt to maintain matt?
b) matt to polish gloss
c) gloss to matt?
before we jump the wagon... lt's check the paint type.
1) poly type or
2) acrilic or
3) laquer or
4) nitro?
the answer for questions -
a) meguires pon dah cukup, never ever use the type of polish that shines, i.e rubbing compound kind of type, car polish or autosol. use a non solvent type better with natural oil/lemon based.
b) this one a bit of passsion kind of work needed. use the highest grid possiblle i.e 2000 water proof type, use a sanding block (rubber type), and lots of feel on the curve manually. wipe to clean. normally guitarist do this on their neck if their sweat makes them slippery. if you want to make them gloss, just put rubbing type of compound and hand or machine polish.
c) same as b, but no need to use any compound/polish to gloss them up
as for the paint material -
1) tough and needs lotsa of cool compasionate attitute
2) very2 fragile, tends to melt if wrong compound used. always read instructions and warning on the lable. must not rush, everything must smoth up to the curve.

NOTE :
acrillic, laquer and nitro are very sensitive. poly is very thick and tough... sometimes the guitar is not being painted evenly, sor better be careful when you sand them down or the paint will be out. thats why you need to have a clear conscience and a piece of mind when doing it... kalau rasa that you're not patient enough and lack of skill/feel to do it, send to a pro like gg. he will advice better on the matter.

woah.. please bare in mind any mods to the finish is considered irrepairable damaged.. this will devalue your guitars at least by 50% in the vintage market, should you decide to keep your axe for the next 20 years or so.. especially if you have a one of the kind factory finish..

The only way to refin and maintain your guitar's investment price is thru the pro shop refin by the manufacturer..
I have seen too many refins to tell how sad to see an old vintage axe get raped like that..
There's a 54 strat that has been refin blue on the jamtank selling for 15k.. even if its in a beat up shape these babies commands price like 60k usd because its the first ever year..
you will kill your axe value if you refin..
