Beginning its very first installment in 3/5/2008, DONG TAI DU (Translation: “Attitude Movement) is set to be a bi-monthly independent music event, created to celebrate Malaysia’s very own homegrown music and creative arts.
The event includes a powerhouse showcase of 12 local indie bands and 8 local electronica acts, a flea market of 20 stalls with creative, DIY design items for sale and a display of local indie design artworks. On par with the current trend where local independent musicians and creative arts had seen much public and media attention, this event aims to become the cornerstone representative for the local Chinese independent musician/designer/artist community.
But DONG TAI DU is not only an event, it is also a cross-over indie label prepared to ignite the creative sub-culture flame in the local youth community, a platform that gathers like-minded peers in celebration of the DIY spirit that fuels today’s local youth trends. Not only do we seek to bring to this unique youth culture to higher grounds within the local arena, but with our up-coming, on-going efforts, we seek to become the premier Chinese independent event in the South East Asia.
Our vision is to create a music and creative arts event that involves local acts capable of invoking a passion for music and art, with a range of edgy and progressive sounds to cater to a diverse audience; and the event and its activities should generate high energy, unlimited excitements, thrills and fun to the relevant target group as well.
DONG TAI DU's blog is already seeing a rising number of readers and visitors, both curious and drawn to the grand possibilities of the local creative sub-culture and the growing sense of community. The blog features regular updates of the event, sample music tracks from local bands, videos, feature articles on international Asian music acts plus artworks and photography from youth art circles as well as network links to other fun and creative youth communities.
It's time for the young local creative community to shine, and DONG TAI DU is all set to lead the charge.DONG TAI DU happens on 3rd of May, Saturday, at The Disco, Annexe, Central Market KL.
