The main man behind 'Tribute To Mardana'

It's a project conceived by Jagmohan Singh (better known as Jaggu or Punjabi Hippie), one of the country's finest djembe players.

He did most of the music and was the main inspiration for many of the fabulous performances by hugely talented and largely unsung Malaysian artists, including the amazing Hardev Kaur whose fabulous voice can be heard soon on a solo album we're in the midst of recording.

There's also a young bagpiper on one of the tracks and the awesome didgeridoo dude Justin.

The final song on the album, 'Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji' is a mainly improvised, one-take, live-in-the-studio band affair with a minimum amount of overdubs. Hear the great "Punjabi Hippie" let rip on this peace-and-love-promoting song!

The acoustic guitar/tabla instrumental 'By His Grace' is a Web-only bonus track.

All the trax on 'Mardana' were recorded, mixed and mastered on a portable Korg hard disk recorder (D1200). The final master was also burned on this little wonder machine.
