The band started out as an idea of a few bummed out friends who had no jobs and were hanging out at Plaza Pelangi's food court everyday doing practically nothing and lying to our parents that we were out to save the world..

We wanted to make a band which was different from any other bands in Malaysia at that time; everyone was either playing straight on hardcore or straight on punk (to bluntly put it) and we were listening to more mellow types of hardcore then - bands like old New Day Rising, old Grade, old Abhinanda, etc. - so we wanted to be like them.

Crashed the jam studio and started covering some songs. Back then we were under a different name, a corny/cheesy Emotional Sincerity, and we didn't have any original songs. That was until we roped in Icam to handle 2nd guitars and we found our groove. Fadhil couldn't handle the drums so we got Shahril who actually was a guitarist (!) with his old band, to play drums - and it was all smooth sailing after that.

Got a few originals polished, so we recorded our demo with my beat up walkman at the jam studio. I think we just made a shoe box full of tapes and took it to a gig in Pontian - all the copies sold out even before the gig finished. So very rare one lah if one of you reading this still has a copy hehe..

We played a number of gigs during our time, the first being an opening act for Butterfingers when they came down to JB to play at Jazz N Blues, it still remains as one of the most memorable gigs of our time. Other places we played in Penang, KL, Segamat, Melaka and a few more in JB. The best gig to date for us I'd say was the one in Melaka at Melaka Parade where they listed us as Repraxel (hehe) but it was the best gig ever!

We then kinda signed up with Dicky's First Stance Recordings to release our full length CD. There were 10 songs on it including 1 cover song from one of my project bands called Deadly Weapon, where we got the other vocalists to sing as well - Halim from NET and Lan from Endless Pain, Mochtar couldn't make it. A funny thing happened though, the recording session went great with Eddy Panjang from MOC engineering our sound, and the sound was great at the studio. But the end product was quite a dissappointment with sound coming out blurry and some guitar parts and effects missing. We suspect that Vincent (the studio manager guy who kinda like dengki us since Eddy was helping us out, shit i dunno man) sabotaged our recording, reason being he was the one doing the conversion to the DAT. Even Eddy was flabbergasted when he heard the CD... well anyway, just our luck la kot.

I don't quite know how the CD sales progressed since Dicky handled everything (thanks dude) but one thing for sure was that we as a band didn't progress much after the CD was released. Probably out of frustration of the quality of the CD and also coz we were all starting to live out our lives properly with more concentration on work and girlfriends - yup you read right, and to date Apek is married, Shah also got hitched and has a new daughter already. Also everyone kinda had other project bands after the CD released, so they went on to concentrate more on their new bands. Apek went up to KL and also played with Polythene for a while, Icam with Laila Lounge and Shahril with Kluk Kluk Adventure, last I heard he's doing a project band with the boys from Terrorist Contra.

Oh yeah, I guess I should mention the EMI episode where they offered to sign us up under them after one of their PR guys bought our CD. Well the deal turned sour with them releasing our song on their compilation even before the contract arrived at my postbox. So the deal was off since we couldn't trust them even at the initial stage. I think we got like 200 bucks (?) for royalty of that compilation and we asked to take out our song if there was a 2nd pressing - of course there wasn't..

So for anyone not in the know yet, yup Reprisal did break up a few months after the CD release. Some kids have asked for "reprisals" from us but we couldn't really get back together again. Even our last gig which was in JB, turned out bad with us missing ques and chords here and there, and having to get sessions to replace members who were not around. So we faded out eventually and I came up to KL to concentrate on work.

So I guess that pretty much sums up what we were and could've been - remains just a dream of some JB kids who didn't have a care in the world except to have fun..
