"What the fuck is this band hanging around in i-bands? They could be the next OAG..." - Siang, Umbrella Records exec, meaning NO disrespect at all for www.i-bands.net

"One of the many promising young bands on MySpace which have really snagged my ears. An almost perfect balance of great indie melodies, with some jangle and bits of punkish barre chords for a bit of dirt. Also blessed with confident singing and songwriting (a rare quality amongst new local bands)." - Joe Kidd, RICECOOKER

Why The Fridays? Have you ever heard The Aquabats' song about welfare free food for underpriviledged high school students, Pizza Day? One line goes "Friday is pizza day, the best day of the week...". We found out that it really is the best day of the week.

The very essence of The Fridays as a name is simply an unassuming, practical name that works.

Coming to life out of sheer boredom in the somewhat transition periods of their lives, The Fridays, the main nucleus featuring socially impaired dork Acap F, cute-esque Adib Azhari, Strokes' devotee Syn Zulkifli and 'son of Mike Joyce' Abdul Azim, started out playing the most idiotic and absurd rock & roll to ever come from an Ampang band. A few years down the line, nothing much has changed. The band still plays idiotic, absurd rock & roll with the addition of 'tukang karut' Yan Jimbit on guitars and deranged, bacteria-infected Chey Bacteria(hence the name) replacing Azim, who has since played for various other acts (currently with pop combo Apple Juice). The latest addition to this rag-tag legion of rock dweebs is Fizi Kid Plekat (Apple Juice/sometimes Dark Revo), assisting Yan Jimbit on the guitar shop floor and adding punch to the rhythm section.

Basically the music has always been unclassifiable. We would like to think of it as bad-pop-music-played-by-easily-satisfied-simpletons, dumb rock or idiot rock, but indie rock or indie pop with punk rock leanings in all the right places is obviously a better description. Indie pop/indie rock laced with ironic optimism.
