Dear Brothers & Sisters,

We'd like to thank everyone who's been a part of our modest little movement by either adding us, listening to our songs, contacting us and going out to buy our Karya record, giving us musical feedback and just generally encouraging us through it all in 2005.

More thanks to you who helped our little band become nominated for the first ever ROTTW Music Poll 2005, in the Most Underrated Band category.

If you believe in us, do vote for us at: http://www.rottworld.com/rottwpoll2.htm

We are also in the running for the upcoming first ever Homegrown Awards too, thanks to Edwin Raj of They Will Kill Us All & 8tv.

If you think we're worthy, SMS vote for us in any category at all at: http://www.homegrown.com.my/images/contest/smsmain.htm

Thank yous are in order to ROTTW magazine editor Abg Rom and the whole crew there as well as Edwin, Alet, Rina Omar & gang at 8tv.

The movement of our band depends on the karmic shift and support of all of you guys we are writing this to right now. Much is owed and we take our hats off to your unconditional support. Thank you.

Here's to the continuation of our journey (a bigger, better record? Insya-Allah...) in 2006 or beyond!

Sincerely,

@uburn

For Friends Outside of the Klang Valley
author: Auburn posted: 11 Sep 2005 10:24 PM
Dear Friends,

We would like to apologise so much to our friends who have written in asking for our record from outside the Klang Valley, as it hasn't been available yet outside of the Valley unfortunately, due to our limited means and limited time as part-time music makers.

We are working with our friends at Glass-I and Abg Rom to make the record available to you guys on the East Coast in Kota Bahru and Kuala Terengganu, as well as you guys in Penang who wrote us asking for Karya, all by October.

Rest assured that all your records have been kept for safekeeping and that we'll remember whom we owe CDs to

Till then...hope to bump into some of you guys at any of our shows that's coming up (please see our 'gigs' section for all the details). Apologies again...we'll keep you in good stead. Hope you'll bear with our little band's temporary limited distribution.

Best,

@uburn

Karya Replenished
author: Auburn posted: 11 Sep 2005 10:17 PM
Dear Friends,

For everyone in the Klang Valley, our Karya record has been replenished downtown at Music Magic (1st floor, Central Market ... take the first staircase on your right and voila) and Music Exchange (behind KL Plaza in Bukit Bintang, on Jln Walter Grenier).

We've chosen these two outlets as our trusted source of Karya CDs, just because they're fab places to find just any kind of music that's good.

In Petaling Jaya Satellite City, there are still plenty of pieces available at Wondermilk Gallery, now relocated to Damansara Utama's Uptown area.

Studio-wise, we'd like to highlight Keng of Awakening Productions/Her Reverie's fab rehearsal/recording space, Awakening Studios located in rustic Taman Danau Desa at: 33-2, Jln 4 / 109 F, Tmn Danau Desa (off Old Klang Rd).

Also for jammer/other folks in bands, Mokhtarrizal's I Seek Music Studios in SS19 Subang Jaya also carries our CDs, along with D'Rhythmix Studios in SS15 and Pentatonic Studios in SS18.

Studio 78 shoppes on the first floor of Asia Cafe in SS15 and in the new wing of One Utama also keeps Karya on its racks.

Thank you so much for supporting the Auburn movement.

Love to all,

@uburn

Sejenak Di Persada
author: Auburn posted: 15 Aug 2005 02:16 AM
Dear Angels,

Wow, what a high last nite! We were invited on Friday evening by Wing Meng of Love Me Butch to become "replacement killers" for the mighty They Will Kill Us All, for the KL finale of the Sejenak di Semenanjung Tour with Seven Collar T-shirt, and all there is to say is -- wow, what an honour.

Coming on first right before One Buck Short, Cassandra (the Damn Dirty Apes could not perform) and headlining sets by SCTS and then LMB...it was really up to us to open the evening and ensure it would end the way it did (with everyone dazed and moved after the headliners' back-to-back, brilliant sets).

Looking back...we did enough to fulfil Wing Meng's invitation to honour replacing our brothers TWKUA, and doing our little bit part in dedicating some feelings and condolences to our good friend David (TWKUA guitar player), and the passing of his father. The exhilaration was mixed with deepest sympathy for David and his family. Warm kudos to Edwin and the rest of TWKUA for coming and supporting the show anyway.

Alas, time didn't permit us to even rehearse or practice so we just went up and winged it, let our hearts and instincts run riot, and did our best without spontaneously combusting. Believe us, it was a lotta pressure...but the whole spirit of everyone in the place made it worth the risk. Besides, it was just fun to go out and play again!

The place was done up so nicely as well -- the vibe rocked and the people were beautiful! Everyone was there for the music.It was just magical.

Truly, the music lovers came out in droves last nite, and only Seven Collar T-shirt and Love Me Butch could have been responsible for that. Thanks again Wing Meng and Duan...glad to see y'all again in one place after a LONG time.

A special thanks to Lyanna, Jun Wei and our other new friends whom we met last night (and online). Tq for getting our record guys...hope it's worth your while...see ya again soon girls and boys (in real life and online). =D

More thanks go to everyone who has supported and encouraged our little movement up till now...there is not enough love to give for what you've done. We couldn't and can't ever survive without the pillar of support from the souls who support us with their awesome energies.

And to think that the only plans we had this weekend was that we were only supposed to have a routine practice tonite...

God works in mysterious ways.

Till next time, let the music guide us all...

No, Not that Balai!
author: Auburn posted: 11 Aug 2005 08:29 PM
Greetings,

There is a slight correction about Izuan's solo acoustic slot at the Notthatbalai art festival that's coming up next week. It's not Thursday, August 11, as mentioned in the previous post - that's today, and the festival has not even started! - but the following Thursday, which is August 18, the second day of the festival.

Izuan's slot will follow sets by Lisa Zahran, legendary Spunky Funggy frontman/punk rocker Francis Wolf (who will be making a nichely-anticipated comeback set!), and our brother band of yore, Fallen Leaves.

So on paper it's essentially: Notthatbalai, second day, Thursday, Aug 18, 7pm to 8.30pm at the Lost Generation Space, 11, Lorong Permai, Off Jln Syed Putra, Robson Heights, Taman Seputeh, Kuala Lumpur...

Lisa Zahran -> Francis Wolf -> Fallen Leaves -> Izuan of Auburn

..and then we go straight to a screening marathon of indie short films from 8.30 to 10pm. Yay =D This is an invitation to tap Izuan on the shoulder for a copy (RM12 only) of our record, Karya.

In other news, Lied's "Making Enemies" launch gathering/showcase has been postponed due to some private reasons concerning the band's singer, Adlin. Till then, keep out of the haze...

Take care,
@uburn

Manifestations in 2D & 3D
author: Auburn posted: 04 Aug 2005 09:56 PM
Dear Auburn Angels,

Hope all is well.

We'll be appearing on a few mediums soon as we've been trying to get things out of the way one by one in the wake of Karya's release, to make way for the thing that makes it all worth it: rehearsing and making music.

Some meetings have been an honour, while others were very fruitful encounters, and some, we just winged it due to exhaustion (from day activity) or zero interest. We extend our thanks to everyone we met though, for their interest and heart, and for them even bothering with our band.

There is also the matter of our own website, our very own web abode we can call home. Auburn Central. All we know is one just won't materialise out of thin air for us...

Okay, here's the list of out-of-the-studio things that have happened of late:

Homegrown@8tv: Auburn taped three songs - "Aurora Blues" (okay), "The Endless Summer" (not so okay) and "To Be Continued" (horrendous!) - live at Akar Karya Studios, Damansara Utama, in between a host of great groups like Furniture, Republic of Brickfields and They Will Kill Us All for the second season of the half-hour show. The show airs every Friday at 10.30pm - that's right after Malaysian Idol. So blow that stuff out your pop butts with Homegrown =) We haven't done the interview portion yet though...

Next, there have been courteous invites by Abg Rom and ROTTW Magazine for Auburn to guest at the Road to Soundstage battle in late September, and also by our brothers in Lied for their "Making Enemies" record launch/showcase planned for sometime in September as well... Wow, what an honour. Both are kind of big deals to us. And it looks like everything is happening in September.

On a lighter note, Izuan will be going acoustic with some of the songs for Not That Balai on Thursday, August 11, and at the next Troubadours at the end of this month, which happens at Alexis. More accurate dates and times for all these gigs will be posted soon as we know...

On the 2D front, we've met the wonderful folk of ROTTW for a geeky, tech-heavy kinda article on Auburn (for once! aesthetics can get boring =S) in the journal's September issue.

There will also be record reviews of Karya in the September issues of JUICE and KLue. Till then...may the force be with us all. Remember, music is king. =D

Salam,
@uburn

Another Shadowy Tune
author: Auburn posted: 03 Aug 2005 10:35 AM
Greetings,

As promised, we've finally put up "Bayangan Kurnia" (ini Bahasa Melayu ke?) up for listening. Thanks to Hadie for this. =)

It's an unmastered track so it may be a little softer than the others and you may have to blast it up a little bit on the volume.

This outtake comes from the same Utusan Studio sessions which yielded the Karya EP. The song is essentially a Malay version of "Silhouttes", the fourth track off of that record. It was done right at the very end, when we were wrapping up mixing, when we were just at wits end and bordering on going mad and wanted to let off some steam. Hadie suggested we try something in the mother language, so that is "Bayangan Kurnia".

Turned out this wasn't such a stupid idea after all...our little outtake was picked up by King's Studio and will be released on a compile called New Beginnings II, or something close to that.

So that's that...till next time. Take care =)

Love,
@uburn
