Be the first to welcome home Malaysia's own songstress, Shelley Leong as she takes a spring break from Boston this year. Shelley has captivated vast audiences with her warm personal style both in the folk/rock singer-songwriter circles and jazz arena.

This time round, she brings with her new influences, new material, together with the old, and her consistent ability to bring songs alive. This will include songs from her acclaimed first album - Storyteller, new original songs, folk, swing and latin favourites.

She will be accompanied by prominent acoustic guitarist, Az Samad, and exciting new talents such as Stephanie Chan on drums and Kevin Theseira on double bass.

Admission is free.

Acoustic Gestures CD now available at Guitar Collection!

Hi everyone! My CD, "Acoustic Gestures" will be available at all Guitar Collection outlets from 1st September 2005 onwards. So for anyone in Subang Jaya, near Sunway Pyramid, Taman Tun, Midvalley and 1 Utama, you will be able to get a copy of my CD at the shops!

It is currently already available at the Midvalley branch (same level as the cinema-opposite the cinema to be exact, next to McDonalds). Do tell your friends and anyone who have wanted to get my CD but have not been able to go to the shows. It is sold for RM30 a copy.

UPDATE: I've just been informed that Deja Voodoo Spells will not be performing for this gig. The organisers are working on getting a replacement act, just as awesome.

The Artistic Series is a series of gigs that aims to highlight the individual talent of various local musicians focusing on three main instruments, the guitar, the bass and the drums. The series will bring together top-performing musicians in different fields to display their contribution to their bands as well as their ventures as solo artistes. August 7, Sunday 2-4pm: Acoustic guitar workshop (Az!) & Vocal workshop (Shelley Leong!) at The Music Hut. Bandar Damansara Perdana.

Call: 03 7710 9198. or 012 6510445 for bookings and directions. They are sponsoring most of it, so the entry price for these 2 very educational and fun hours is kept at an affordable RM10.

I'll be sharing tips on how I write (and play) my compositions and on fingerstyle guitar basics to beyond. If there's been anything you've wanted to ask me about how I play/think/improvise (and watch me explain while playing it!) , this workshop would be the best time.

Shelley will be sharing vocal tips on breathing techniques, relaxation, warm ups, myths about singing and introduction to vocal improvisation. Her aim is to also help non-vocal majors (i.e. guitarists etc, who wish to start singing or sing better).

Hi everyone! I just uploaded a track off my album "Acoustic Gestures" called Latah Setinggan on the website. It's a fun funky piece that I wrote a few years ago and been playing it quite a bit in different settings. This is a solo guitar version of it that I perform during gigs.
