Sally Faerie .: Click To Enter :. Sally Faerie and Dream-driven-pop Sally is a fairy (the tale and true stories) Do you believe in fairies? What did the myth about fairies that other people told you? You must be surprised because fairies do exists. They lived like us in this world but in a very different place where all the dreamers want to be. I want to share something about a fairy whose name was Sally Faerie. Well, Sally is a fairy who lived in a very small place of Dreamland near to Neverland. She has small-slit eyes, small nose and a big smile. There is one thing about her that you dont want to know. Sally Faerie has been crying and mourning over the death of the love of her life, Toki-Doki. No one knows how long she has been crying. Some say that she has been crying since hundred and thousand of years ago. No one has any idea. Sally Faerie will only stop crying if someone singing her song. Sometimes she sang along and sometimes she fell asleep. Sadly, Sally Faerie still cries in her sleep and if she had a bad dream, she would easily wake up and continue crying. Such a softie heart she has and a fragile person she was, easy she cry, easier she laugh and cry and laugh and cry and laugh and cry in laugh. If suddenly, you wake up in the night and heard little whisper voice crying and sobbing, dont easily caught in shake, it must be Sally Faerie. Sing her a song and you are welcome to the Dreamland of Sally Faerie. Dream-driven-pop Set back in early 2000, a group of friends met in enal o bundle memorial place opposite to Star Dust jamming studio somewhere in the Summit, Batu Pahat. Adha, Udin, Awe, Su and Nazrul wasnt no buddies. We were just hometown friends and exchanging stories about what was happening to the town while we were away from our beloved hometown to further studies, working outside the radar. We talked about the people, old friends, skateboarding and stuffs and almost about anything that came across our minds. From different background kind of music and lifes interests, the idea of forming a band started there. Semester break was just right for all of us because that was the only chances we had to rock out and play the cover version from weezer, the smashing pumpkins, radiohead to green day. We did it every time we had a chance during semester break. We had recorded 2 own songs in 2001 on our very own live version and we really satisfied with the cooperation and the commitment given by the members. The feedbacks from our close friends were good. Weve been invited to do a great collaboration with Terengganu kids by 2002 and were listed to join a compilation album done by JB kids but sadly we kind of had to drop the invitation because of some inner problems. Actually, the band was just suka-suka band to fill the little spaces left of our heavy routine. Everyones has their own commitment at the moment so it was all stopped in early 2003 after had the wonderful moment being in the band. Adha invited to play with the Flirt, Udin plays guitar for h/c band in BP and still studying in Kelantan Polytechnic, Awe with his own project band, Su was still studying and working on her sk8punk zine and Nazrul plays with his Muar friends but the friendship is still keep going on. In 2004 the rotating line- up with just the two of us, we built the band and start it from the beginning all over again. Still the line- up changing, people in and people out, makes us learn the reality of life, gives us chance experience new things and the learning process will never last. Classically, we love the band, we love our music and this time the dream is our strength to keep on running while sleeping. And if life is just a dream, we would continue waking up. Guidance of dreams, power driven with mellow touches, 60s yay-yay with the dark side and when its easy listening to us its pop. Be it Dream-Driven-Pop - the way we like it. Sally Faeries background Musical influences : Weezer, OAG, Ash, The Mojos, The Smashing Pumpkins, Sixpence None The Richer, The Beatles, Buddy Holly, No Doubt, Muse, Travis, etc Originated : Dreamland of Batu Pahat, Johor. Sounds like : Weezer meets Buddy Holly the Smashing Pumpkins way - currently still experimenting but we were working on that way. Genre : Indie (Dream-driven-pop) Line- up in 2000-2003 : Adha-vocal , Udin-lead guitar , Awe-rhythm guitar, Su- bass guitar, Nazrul-drums. 2003 : Salleh-vocal , Udin-lead guitar , Awe-rhythm guitar , Su-bass guitar, Ong-drums. 2004 : The planning year Early 2005 : Su-vocal + guitar, Ude-1st guitar , Awe-bass guitar , Ain-drums. End 2005 : Same line-up with 1st guitar replacement taken care by Udin Ki-ki. End of Sally Faeries background. Why Sally Faerie? Occay, actually we just name the band after one of the two songs we wrote from demo 2001. One is Sally Faerie dont You Cry For Me and another one is Accept Me (which is a controversial song back then). The conversation was like this among the band members Sally Faerie band lah, ok what? and Why not Salleh si Pari-pari? and SP wannabe lah! and trash lah, we are all sampah what?with the hidden meaning la and smartees pon ok, smart s ke? frens named us the Weezer band, and we were since known with that name. Whatever, Weezer is great and we dont want to be known as weezer band though they are one of our biggest musical influences. We gotta go find a name. Back to the start, Sally Faerie is good as well. Furthermore, we think that Sally Faerie has the strongest chemistry to our kind of music. That was it. Why still Sally Faerie? It is because we need to frame the memories of our old members, which will easily ring them a bell. Without them, there will be no such band sing the sallyfaerie song. They will remain in there - forever.
