the rookie .: Click To Enter :. Allow us to introduce ourselves,we are The Rookie,once known as Magnakai. The Rookie is(top pic from left) : Jab(guitar),Ewan(drums),Amar(bass,vocals),and Lutfi(guitar,vocals). The band's genesis dates back to 2003, with E-wan(drummer) and vocalist/guitarist Lutfi started learning how to play instruments. They are such a fast learner that by August 2004 they've created their own music. By the end of that year, Lutfi says, "is where things get interesting."The introduction of Amar as the vocalist brings pop-punk vocals into the band and the band's latest addition,Jab brings melodic guitar sounds for the band.E-wan credits Lutfi as adding "amazing background vocal and guitar ideas" which cemented the band's sound, a juxtaposition of singing and screaming within a marriage of pop melodies and pulsing, careening rock rhythms. "We brings a lot of emotion and power to the music," Amar says. "something we thrive on as a band. We bridge the gap, taking the best of [pop punk and screamo] and making something of our own. We reach for that solid hook but, at the same time, try to work in that crazy offset that little extra kick to the song."Jab says,"Amar's voice and Lutfi's voice is very different from each other,as Amar's more like pop-punk and Lutfi's more like screamo.The combination of these two what makes the band special," The music preferences by each of the member of the band is also one of the factor that make this band unique.Amar prefers mainstream rock,punk and pop-punk sound such as Sum 41,New Found Glory and Green Day.Jab prefers indie and punk rock such as Green Day,Social Distortion,Weezer,Sum 41,and Jimmy Eat World.E-wan prefers punk and pop-punk sounds like Blink 182,and Green Day.Lutfi is the emo side of the band as he introduce bands like Matchbook Romance,Bleed The Dream,Senses Fail,Hawthorne Heights,Jimmy Eat World,Armor For Sleep and The Beautiful Mistake.
