BENJAMIN KYLE
BORN 2-21-78
LOCATION: LORAIN , OHIO 44052

My love for music started at the early age of nine. My stepfather Kevin Cole, who co-wrote with the late Kieth Whitley, bought my first guitar. Through him I learned five chord progressions, which became my foundation to build on. Past experiences all play a major role in the way I write. I was abused as a child and my mother was in an out of mental hospitals. Life for me as a child was different than the average boy. My songs became an expression of my past and quickly developed into a passion for music.
At age fifteen my passion became clear through a dream I had. I was standing on stage looking out on the massive crowd as tears began to fall from my eyes. They were holding what looked like miniature candles while cheering me on. As the music played I started to sing a song that everyone seemed to know. I woke from the dream, grabbed a pencil and tried to write the words down as quickly as I could. At that point, I realized my journey had just began.
During the summer of 1993, one of my old bass players, George Baily, introduced me to music theory. His insight helped me to understand how musicians arrange their music. From that point, his influence helped me to write my own songs. Some other influences include, Otis Redding, Eddie money, AC DC, Bon Jovi, Ozzy Ozbourne, Guns and Roses, Third Eye Blind, Rod Stewart, Audio Slave, Tool and Dave Mathews.
Over the years, several opportunities have turned into achievements. At the
Flying Machine in Lorain, Ohio I opened up for White Lion's lead singer Mike
Tramp and Danger Danger. December 2001, I performed at the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio. December 2003, I performed at the Fashion Rock 3 Holiday Fest in Orlando, Florida becoming a finalist, overall taking third
place. All the finalist of Fashion Rock were placed as openers for Brook
Hogan. The Summer of 2004, I opened up for The Pimps ( Mission Impossible2
soundtrack) at the Penny Road Pub in Chicago,Illinois. I also played at the
world famous Agora, IX Center and Peabody's of Cleveland, Ohio.
I have learned that in the music industry it is not just what you know, but the
will to endure the journey to your dream. The ability to look beyond your
present state, never give up on your passion and be ready and willing to take a leap of faith.
